Dawn Hill examines Vlad Savchuk's "octopus spirit" teaching and the Scriptures used to support it. She explains why passages about thoughts, temptation, and spiritual warfare should be read in context rather than used to establish an unnamed demon. She closes with biblical encouragement to seek counsel, resist isolation, and look to Christ and His Word. For more from Dawn, please visit: https://servantsofgrace.org/dawn-hill/

This sermon examines Daniel 11:20-45, tracing the historical rise and fall of Antiochus IV Epiphanes and his conflict with the Ptolemaic kingdom of Egypt. The teaching highlights the fulfillment of prophecy through historical records, specifically citing Josephus and the Maccabees, to demonstrate that God sovereignly governs the rise and fall of world powers according to His appointed time. It contrasts the deceit and self-exaltation of the 'King of the North' with the steadfastness of the faithful Jews who 'know their God' and resist persecution. The passage serves as an apologetic for the veracity of Scripture, showing that specific predictions were fulfilled in history, thereby validating God's ultimate control over human affairs. The sermon concludes by encouraging believers to trust in God's sovereignty rather than placing hope in shifting political powers, finding strength in the promise that the wise will shine as stars in the final judgment.

While the passive aspect of David's faith was demonstrated by his godly countenance, the active aspect of his faith was proven by action and his zealousness for God's honor and glory. And perhaps no better example is given in David's life than his victory over Goliath. First, it serves as a theological apologetic against the defiance of God, silencing the 'obstreperous mouths' of the enemy. But also, David's devotion to God and His glory is a relatable model for the Christian. For while the Christian may fail (as David did), our hope and ultimate victory are secured not by human effort but by the divine warrior who crushed the head of the serpent and grants us a part of his eternal glorious kingdom.
