Hey everybody! Episode 72 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with Jeremy Narby. I was familiar with Jeremy for many years ever since the release of his popular book, The Cosmic Serpent. Jeremy recently released a new book, co-written with Rafael Chanchari Pizuri, called Plant Teachers: Ayahuasca, Tobacco, and the Pursuit of Knowledge. It’s a very good read and speaks about two plants that I have worked closely with: ayahuasca and tobacco. There has been a lot of literature released in the last decade about ayahuasca, but very little about tobacco, a plant in some ways equal to, and in some regards, more widely viewed as medicine than ayahuasca. I was very happy to hear that Jeremy had released a book talking about tobacco, because I feel there is a need for more clarity on this highly regarded plant medicine, and Jeremy is a great person to begin to speak about it. I really enjoyed this conversation with Jeremy, listening to some of his stories, hearing his perspective on ayahuasca and tobacco, and having him speak about the new book. I think and hope you all will learn from this episode. As always, to support this podcast, get early access to shows, bonus material, and Q&As, check out my Patreon page below. Enjoy!

"Jeremy Narby, Ph. D., studied history at the University of Kent at Canterbury, and received a doctorate in anthropology from Stanford University. For the last 30 years, he has coordinated projects in favour of Amazonian people for Swiss NGO "Nouvelle Planète”, involving land titles, bilingual education, and sustainable forestry. He has written several books including "The cosmic serpent, DNA and the origins of knowledge" (1998, New York, Penguin Putnam/Tarcher), and "Intelligence in nature: an inquiry into knowledge" (2005, New York, Penguin Putnam/Tarcher), and co-edited with Francis Huxley "Shamans through time: 500 years on the path to knowledge" (2001, New York, Penguin Putnam/Tarcher). He recently co-signed with Rafael Chanchari Pizuri “Plant teachers: tobacco and ayahuasca” (2021, Novato CA, New World Library)."

Ep. 75 - The Conscious Perspective - Plant Medicine Ceremonies, Tradition, & the Sacred

    1:21:52

Hey everybody! Episode 75 of the show is out. This is an interview I did with Gary Haskins on his podcast, The Conscious Perspective. Some of you have asked for some more interviews where I am speaking, so I thought this interview I recently did with Gary would serve that purpose well. In the interview, we talk about sacred plant medicines, their ceremonial uses, the importance of tradition, and what these plants may be pointing towards. I really enjoyed this conversation and I hope you do as well. Check out Gary’s podcast and consider supporting his work if you can. As always, to support this podcast, get early access to shows, bonus material, and Q&As, check out my Patreon page below. Enjoy! "Jason began learning holistic systems of medicine such as herbalism, Traditional Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, and nutrition in his 20s. That curiosity eventually led him to the Amazon where he began to work with plants to learn traditional ways of healing. His experience combines many different modalities of working with plants. The plants of the Amazon, and the ways in which the peoples of Amazon work with them, have had a revelatory effect on his life. After having worked with ayahuasca quite extensively, he began the process of dieting plants. He has dieted in the Shipibo tradition and began working with maestro Ernesto Garcia Torres in 2013, delving deep into the world of dieting. Through a prolonged apprenticeship and training, involving prolonged isolation, fasting, and dieting of plants, he was given the blessing to begin working with plants as a tabaquero, and was eventually given the ability to administer diets; to share in the tradition from which he had learned and which has taught him so much. He has been living, learning, and working in the jungle for the last seven years. He currently runs dietas with his colleague, Merav Artzi, in the Sacred Valley of Peru and works at the Temple of the Way of Light as a facilitator of ayahuasca ceremonies. In the past seven years, he has helped guide over a thousand people in ceremonies. Jason has practiced and taught yoga and enjoys practicing regularly Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Plants truly are our food, our life, our medicine, and they are alive and here to help us learn from them. They can open us to a world that we perhaps never could have imagined: the world of who we are. When we approach them with respect, honor, humility, and a genuine desire to learn, they can open the doors of life and heal us on all levels. Jason is deeply grateful to all of his teachers, everyone that has helped him in this journey to where he is, and to wherever it may lead."To view Gary’s podcast, the Conscious Perspective, visit him on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/user/BigGuknowme and on Apple at: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-conscious-perspective/id1528073394 and on Discord at: https://discord.com/invite/Bp8Kf3eyPQ For more info about Jason and his work, visit: https://www.NicotianaRustica.orgThis episode of the show is sponsored by the Temple of the Way of Light. Ep. 74 - Samer Mouawad - Shamanism, Ayahuasca, San Pedro & Healing

    2:21:48

Hey everybody! Episode 74 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with Samer Mouawad. Samer lives and works in the Sacred Valley of Peru where he works with plant medicines and has a healing practice. I really enjoyed sitting down and talking with Samer. He has a really beautiful presence and is able to speak about many ideas of plant medicines in a very lucid, deep, and simple way. He draws from his own extended experience of working with plants and his interest in consciousness and the human condition. I trust this will be an enlightening conversation for all who listen. Ep. 73 - Sondra Hamilton - Herbalism, Plant-Spirit Medicine, and Rediscovery

    2:33:07

Hey everybody! Episode 73 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with Sondra Hamilton. I met Sondra in the Sacred Vallery of Peru and saw she had a really good knowledge of plants. I have been wanting to talk about herbalism on this show for a while, so I thought Sondra would be a perfect person to speak about that. She is an herbalist and has studied a number of ancient traditions such as European herbalism, Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and a few Native American herbal traditions. It was a pleasure for me to sit down with her and have her share in her knowledge of plant medicine, various traditions, and how to integrate and learn from both plants, traditions, and our own innate wisdom. I think you all will enjoy this episode, much as I did. As always, to support this podcast, get early access to shows, bonus material, and Q&As, check out my Patreon page below. Enjoy! "Sondra Hamilton is a Mystic Herbalist, and Ayurvedic Health Counselor who works with the wisdom and elements of Mother Nature including: plants, stones, sacred mountains, water, air, ether, fire, water and earth. In 2012 Sondra heard the calling from the plants and enrolled in a Plant Spirit Herbalist program in Denver, CO. She started to have a remembering process of healing others with plants and stones in previous lifetimes. This process led her to Peru numerous times to study with ceremonial plants, the Apus (Mountains) and Munay Ki Rites. The energy of Peru guided Sondra to continue her plant journey at Herb Pharm and The Blue Ridge School of Herbal Medicine in Asheville, NC. In 2015 Sondra immersed herself on the island of Kauai, Hawaii at Hale Pule where she completed a 200 hour Yoga and Ayurvedic teacher training. Sondra continued her studies at Hale Pule completing a 600 hour Ayurvedic Health Counselor Program. After the program she had a deep calling to travel to the source of Ayurveda and immerse herself in a Panchakarma at a Ayurvedic Hospital in Southern India. Her knowledge of health and healing has provided a deeper wisdom for integrating Eastern and Western healing modalities. Sondra continues to study with maestra Estela Roman in Mexico, learning Curanderismo from Aztec and Mexican Ancestral traditions.Sondra has been blessed to have diverse teachers and guides on her path that have given her the opportunity to deepen her wisdom of the original medicines of Peru, Greece and India. Her love of plants, animals and Mother Earth extend into each healing session invoking a deeper evolution for self-empowerment. The land she travels teaches her the innate intuitive wisdom that resides in all of us and the importance of honoring and praising our Ancestors. May the plants guide your way home!!!" Ep. 67 - Paulette Waltz - Ayahuasca, Theta Healing, & A Course in Miracles

    3:42:21

Hey everybody! Episode 67 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with my friend Paulette. Paulette and I met in the Sacred Valley of Peru where she has been residing. It was really a pleasure for me to sit down and catch up with Paulette. We’ve had a similar background and it is always fascinating for me to hear more about people’s stories. Being the interviewer that she is, I think Paulette interviewed me as much as I did her. So we had a really interesting and fluid conversation about her work with plant medicines, Theta healing, A Course In Miracles, and just about life in general. We even spoke about fairies. I think you all will get a lot of enjoyment and knowledge out of this interview. As always, to support this podcast, get early access to shows, bonus material, and Q&As, check out my Patreon page below. Enjoy!"Paulette is currently based in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Peru. After exploring the world through traveling, working, and living in many countries (she has been to over 50 countries so far), her calling became more focused on exploring the mind, consciousness, and spirituality.Paulette helps people to connect deeply with themselves and find peace. Her sessions help to make sense of the experiences people have in plant medicine ceremonies and to overcome limitations in everyday life. There is nothing too mundane nor too “out there”, whether it’s connecting with beings, past lives, releasing energy, or changing beliefs and patterns.”For more info about Paulette and her sessions and offerings, visit: https://www.yourinnerstate.love/offerings For ThetaHealing certifications, visit: thetahealing.com/paulette And for her interviews of plant medicine and healing practitioners in the Sacred Valley, visit: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCd8Jl8zy3rJTztpf6WijMmQThis episode of the show is sponsored by the Temple of the Way of Light. Ep. 66 - Kunti Trejo - Part 2 - Sacred Frog & Toad Medicines: Kambo & Buffo Alvarius

    2:18:26

Hey everybody! Episode 66 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with my friend Kunti. I met Kunti in the Sacred Valley of Peru where she was running a temazcal, a traditional sweat lodge from Mexico. I really enjoy that medicine and connected with Kunti and felt she held a beautiful space. We have gotten to know each other more and have both become more familiar with each other's respective work. It was a pleasure for me to sit down and connect with her. We did a long podcast, my longest yet at close to five hours. So I decided to split it into two parts. In the first, she talks about her background, the medicine of the temazcal, and the Sun and Moon Dance. In part two, she speaks about frog and toad medicines: kambo and buffo. Kunti has a lot of experience, knowledge, and wisdom to share, so I trust you all will get a lot out of these two episodes. As always, to support this podcast, get early access to shows, bonus material, and Q&As, check out my Patreon page below. Enjoy!"My name is Kunti. I have dedicated my life to the service and study of the ancestral traditions of natural medicines and ways to heal from the mother earth. My specialty is in holding different kinds of ceremonies, based on ancestral ways, always adapting to the new times that we live in. My work is focused on the world of the medicines of the earth, master plants, sacred animals like the amphibians - kambo (phyllomedusa bicolor), and buffo alvarius. These are some of my specialties, as well as the medicine of the 4 elements, the temazcal, and other ways to heal with what we have on this earth and in connection with our power and divinity within.”To contact Kunti, email: [email protected] This episode of the show is sponsored by the Temple of the Way of Light.
