Nicholas Chrimes, Andy Higgs and Tim Cook - three of the authors of the recently published PUMA guidelines - outline their key recommendations for the prevention of unrecognised oesophagael intubation. As a component of PUMA, these guidelines are intended for airway practitioners of all disciplines working in any context and have been endorsed by the world’s major airway societies. The mission of the Project for Universal Management of Airways (PUMA) is to create a single set of airway guidelines that provide consistent guidance for airway practitioners of any discipline, in any country, in any context. Following years of development these guidelines will be released in six separate papers over the rest of 2022. In this session, two of the authors, Nicholas Chrimes and Andy Higgs, will present highlights of the papers published so far.
