Vice continually turns out great, and informative series. One of my personal favourites has to be, The Dark Side Of The 2000's. Season 1 Episode 7 of this series is all about The Bachelor franchise, and that is what we will be breaking down in this video. Now I have never personally watched The Bachelor or any of it's many spin off's however, the fanbase is fascinating to me. Now that the show has cast Taylor, from Secret Lives of Mormon Wives as their next bachelorette (a show I enjoy a little bit too much), it seemed like the perfect time to fully dive into The Bachelor lore. Vice does a great job at giving the information in a way that is clear, concise, but also allows for you to draw your own conclusions based on the information they've presented. Based on this documentary, to me, it seems as if the show should have been canceled quite some time ago. Today's video is very different than my usual content. However, with a soft spot in my heart for survivors, and seeing others talk about this situation as strictly drama, I had to make this video. Olivia Stabile, Faithlynn, and Rylee are all social media creators who have shared their experiences dating Sedona Prince. These revelations have recently gone extremely viral due to their experiences being complete contradictions to the way Sedona has portrayed herself online. Sedona quickly shot to internet fame, because she is 6'7", she loves the ladies, and the ladies seem to love her; or at least they used to. However, any social clout Sedona garnered over the years, has quickly dissipated after previous partners have bravely, and boldly come forward about the mistreatment they have experienced at the very large hands of Sedona. Despite being threatened, and being fearful, these women decided to share their stories, and their truth, and I for one, am not only proud of them for doing so, but I am grateful to them for no longer allowing Sedona's alleged behaviour to go unchecked. One thing about me, I'm gonna watch some TLC reality shows, and I'm gonna watch Vice documentaries. Imagine how thrilled I was to see two of my interests organically merge. This documentary was extremely well done, and it shed light on a lot of things that weren't known publicly. TLC and Kate definitely did some horrendous and drastic things for the sake of financial gain (in my opinion), and it was refreshing to get to see Jon and Collin speak their truth on such a large platform. I genuinely wish all of the Gosselin kids the absolute best, and I hope this documentary makes people reconsider using their kids as a way to financially support their families. This episode was inspired by a conversation I recently had with all of you on Instagram, prompted by the discourse surrounding an article written by Chanté Joseph, titled Is Having a Boyfriend Embarrassing Now? | Vogue. The article was extremely well written, and thought provoking. However, many people online, including many large creators, chimed into the conversation without ever reading or listening to the article. A lot of the focus seems to be on women's responsibility to pick better partners, and I believe this lead folks to miss what I believe is Chanté's main point; heteronormativity should be questioned constantly, and singleness should not mean women are treated as if their lives are incomplete or unfulfilling. Worry not, in this episode of Girl, You Haven't Heard we break it all the way down. We discuss my initial answer to the question the article poses, we read and criticize the article, while also acknowledging the validity of Chanté's perspective. We wrap things up by getting into some of your opinions on the question the article poses, that were shared via instagram! This is the documentary that has the world in a chokehold since it's initial release and for good reason. It is an absolutely wild ride from beginning to end, and like many of you, after watching Unknown Number, I wondered how true it was, how accurate it was, and what they left out. After some research I realized that not only did the Netflix documentary skew with the reality of the situation, but they left out what I believe to be very critical information. Hence this full, and quite lengthy breakdown of the Netflix documentary, to the cut article written by Lauren Smiley, to everything in between. At the end of the day, the adults responsible for protecting these children gravely failed, and I hope they are able to experience peace, and healing after the horribly traumatic things this evil catfish thrust upon them. After a brief hiatus, Girl, You Haven't Heard?? is back! It has been a long time coming, and with today being my birthday it felt like the perfect time to not only bring the show back, but switch things up. Richard Comte is an officer with the Winnipeg Police Service who initially began working for the force in 2002. In 2015, he found himself in quite a mess which he created all on his own. He and officer Andrew Tighe -Yes the same Andrew Tighe who was caught drunk driving- were responsible for investigating a sexual assault that had occurred at the Green Brier Inn which occurred in October of that same year. Richard’s unethical, threatening, problematic and questionable attempts at obtaining video surveillance footage would later come under fire, and he would be the subject of a LERA (Law Enforcement Review Agency) investigation and lawsuit filed by Jonathan Singh, owner of the Green Brier Inn. Josiah Henson is held in high regard in both Black Canadian and American history, despite being somewhat of a sellout. Born into enslavement in America, he was known on the plantation as a hard worker, and trustworthy. For this reason, he was able to work both on and off the property. He would often leave by himself, and for a long time made no attempt to run away. At one point, he even bartered his freedom with his enslaver, in exchange for helping over a dozen Black folks remain enslaved. During the latter part of his life, it becomes clear that he worked overtime in an attempt to make up for his previous harmful actions. Yet, despite his best efforts, he became the sole inspiration for the Uncle Tom stereotype. In this episode we dive into who Josiah Henson was, his life's work, a bit about the Dawn Settlement, as well the origins of the Uncle Tom stereotype, before rounding out with my thoughts as always. On April 11th, 2023, Paige Theriault-Fischer, the woman who murdered Hodan Hashi, had all charges stayed. The statement put out by the prosecution's office makes it clear that they have no intentions of reopening the case, or charging Paige with anything. Less than six months after stealing a life, Paige is free and clear; she gets to go on with the rest of her life as if nothing happened, meanwhile the Hashi's lives are permanently altered. I had the privilege of heading from the Hashi family directly, through Hodan's sister Fartun. Her input, and her family's input is included throughout, and there is exclusive information within this episode that has not been shared elsewhere. This is the third update in Hodan's case where everything that has gone on in 2023 is covered in depth. I will continue to post updates as the case progresses. Marie Joseph Angelique is hands down one of the most misunderstood women in Canadian history. She was enslaved at a young age in Portugal before being forcibly transported to Montreal. Marie knew that her enslavement was wrong and immoral. She regularly rebelled in every way that she could and would admit to everything she did, without hesitation. She was the living embodiement of rebellion, and white Montrealers despised her for it. When the great Montreal fires of 1734 occurred, everyone was quick to blame Angelique, but she maintained her innocence.
