The Preacher’s Kid Who Walked Away and Came Back

Joshua Emmanuel grew up the son of a Presbyterian minister and memorized the Westminster Confession by age 8. By 13 he was using drugs and making a point of being the atheist in his Christian school's Bible class. At 17, God brought him back. Today Joshua runs the Jungle Ministry in Jos, Nigeria, working with the men most churches there have written off: addicts, hustlers, and traffickers living in the slums. He tells Kevin Swanson what brought him back to the faith, what his father did right, and why he spends his time on a few men instead of crusades and altar calls. Kevin asks the question behind it all: how do kids raised in Christian homes catch a real Kingdom vision instead of walking away? #ChristianParenting #Discipleship #Missions #GenerationsRadio #KevinSwanson #JoshuaEmmanuel

Genesis 9 and Romans 13 establish the preservation of life – and the execution of murderers – as the most foundational duty of the civil magistrate. Therefore, this is the #1 most important issue we can take to the ballot box this election: opposing and punishing the murder of innocents in the womb. Kevin Swanson and Joshua Schwisow prepare you to vote by asking: can we believe abortion is murder without believing we should prosecute it? They discuss… - Biblical examples of unborn children being treated as living persons in the womb - What Scripture says about intentional killing, and the difference between killing animals and killing humans - The Bible's laws about accidentally harming or killing an unborn child – and what the penalties tell us about using abortifacients, taking kill-pills, and performing abortions - The difference in Scripture's penalties between intentional and accidental killing – and how much wiggle room there is for avoiding capital punishment, especially when women are pressured into abortions - The historic connection between abortion, witchcraft, and paganism – and what the church fathers said about it Wanting to execute murderers like Jeffry Dahmer but absolving mothers and doctors who kill children is the kind of partiality in judgment that God hates. Let's bring equal weights and measures to the ballot box this year! Got a topic you want us to cover? Email us at [email protected]

Why has the Elizabeth Holmes documentary, You Can See Everything, broken a 20-year record at the box office? Why are so many young people packing into theaters to see an exercise in postmodern relativism about the nature of truth? Kevin Swanson talks with Bill Jack about what young people are desperately seeking in documentaries like this – and what happens when you stop believing in objective truth. They discuss… - The startling facts about how many Americans reject objective truth - Why so many people are religiously inclined to accept relativism – and why the occult so often comes with it - How this seeps into even Christian culture – including why "uptalk" is on the rise, and how feeling is subtly elevated over thinking - Tactics for having a fruitful conversation with someone who says, "That's your truth, not mine" - The ultimate taboo for the relativist – and how to break it in a way that might plant a stone in their shoe The chief mark of our age is confusion over what is real, with people drifting on a sea of opinions. But God's Word remains a sure anchor. Got a topic you want us to cover? Canada is in bad shape. Alberta's separatist vote failed by 3 to 1…there are now more medically-assisted suicides than US gun homicides…and bill C9 makes preaching against homosexuality a hate crime. Kevin Swanson and Daniel Craig discuss what the last of the Canadian Christians should do – and how Christians in other nations can prepare for similar oppression. They ask… - If government schools become compulsory, must Christians put their kids in them? Can they risk breaking the law? - What is the right balance between seeking influence through political action, vs separating from the world to lay a long-term foundation for reformation? - Are cultural passivity and a "don't rock the boat" mindset a form of passive defiance of God, and hatred of neighbor? - How can believers prevent themselves from becoming accustomed to living in a gulag and losing a sense of the freedom that they've lost? - How does YOUR family actually go out right now and make a difference – what are the practical strategies you can use to change things where you are? How do you raise children who still want to be around you when they're grown? Kevin Swanson, Danny Craig, and Bill Roach start with 1 John 4. Your kids learn love from a father who has received God's love himself. The three of them admit where they've failed. Kevin spent far more time with his son than with his daughters. Bill played referee instead of listening. Danny catches himself treating his kids as an inconvenience to "the kingdom of Dad." They also talk about what helped: praying with each child, apologizing to their wives in front of the kids, staying close during the teen years, and Sunday night family talks. Questions? Burning Man is a symbolic resurrection of the druidic wicker-man festival for human sacrifice. So why has Elon Musk said, "Burning Man is Silicon Valley?" Why do the wealthiest and most powerful people in the world attend it? To find the answers, Kevin Swanson talks to Alex Newman about what he saw at Burning-Man 2026. They discuss… * The belief that we can reverse the fall by seeking power from the created world – and how modern tech moguls are a new kind of wizard, using tools, money, and knowledge to grasp for godlike power - The blasphemous and perverse practices that run rampant at Burning Man, from people channeling spirits so the audience can interact with them, to orgies accompanied by Christian music - Whether some modern technological advancements might be derived from communications with demons - How Burning Man represents the tip of the spear in a movement to re-paganize the Western world - Where technology will take us from this point – and how Christians can respond to protect themselves and their children Got a topic you want us to cover? We call the last 24 hours of history "the news," and modern Christians spend a LOT of time on it. But how important is it to God? Does the Bible say something about keeping up with the news? How much does it call us to know what is happening at home, or around the world? Kevin Swanson and Joshua Schwisow go to scripture to find the answers, and discern what matters most to God out of the billions of events in the past day. They discuss… - To what extent we are obliged to know what is going in order to know the signs of the times - What the difference is between news and gossip – and how this affects our use of social media - Why almost EVERYTHING on both Fox and CNN is not worth watching according to biblical principles of news - Why scripture would have us limit our interest in political news – and how much weight we should give it - How to discerning the core lessons and applications in news of disasters (rather than just being emotionally moved or titillated by them) Got a topic you want us to cover? US government schools are failing. There's been a 24-point drop in math skills since 2009, and a 14-point drop in reading skills just since 2018. Why? According to a recent study, it is not a failure of academics – the real issue is student behavior. Chaos and violence in the classroom is an everyday occurrence that makes teachers' jobs "almost impossible." Kevin Swanson and Daniel Craig discuss what scripture says should be done to reform education. They talk about… - The unambiguous reason that teachers themselves identify for kids' bad behavior: it's their parents' fault - The place of corporal punishment…and whether it can be delegated to babysitters or daycare workers - Why anyone should have been able to predict that bifurcating character and academics would lead to disaster - What should be done about teachers' job satisfaction dropping from 62% to 18% in only 15 years - The three fundamental pillars of successful education that must be constantly woven together – and how government schools split them apart instead Got a topic you want us to cover? "This election, the future of America is at stake" – it's a bit like the boy who cried wolf. But this time it really may be true. The upcoming midterm features the biggest swings in our lifetime, with socialists, communists, and Islamists in the running. Kevin Swanson talks to Tim Barton of WallBuilders about what's going on nationwide, and how the future of America would fundamentally change if even 50 percent of evangelicals would actually vote. They discuss… - The misleading use of opinion polls to influence future votes, rather than reflect voter intention - Why the midterms matter easily as much as the presidential election for the future of America - What the stakes are in terms of real changes to expect in the nation, that would affect the typical Christian - The major ballot measures to keep an eye on (which are trending in a very positive direction and even crossing the political aisle!) Jesus wants you to love and serve your wife today, and it's easy to get into a holding pattern THINKING you're doing that. But when the chips come down, how well are you REALLY doing? Kevin Swanson, Bill Roach, and Daniel Craig talk about the upward call of loving your wife better every day, and especially supporting her through her own struggles. They discuss… - How to stop being oblivious to your wife's struggles – including the one question to ask that will open your eyes to what the real problems are in your marriage - How to love her through trials like serious illness, with the remarkable example of how President William McKinley always ensured his bedridden wife was number one - A controversial litmus test for knowing when your relationship is faltering without you realizing - Some easy tactics for cultivating a stronger sensitivity to how precious your wife really is - What to do when your wife is not responding well to your efforts at loving her better Got a topic you want us to cover?
