As women, we’ve been taught SO LITTLE about our hormones, and yet they are the captain controlling the ship that is our bodies! Not only do our hormones impact us physically, but they are the deciding factor in our mental health. And there are far too many of us currently suffering with debilitating stress, anxiety, and depression. I’ve been lucky to meet some of the leading, cutting-edge hormonal experts in the game, and this podcast gathers them together to give you an incredible overview of your hormones, from head to soul. Season 3, Episode 1: Environmental Toxins Can Wreck Your Hormones & What You Can Do About It w/Lara Adler

    1:19:41

What's the one thing that so many women are overlooking when trying to fix their hormones?   Environmental toxins.    Sadly, we have a plethora of chemicals in our environment, beauty  products, and food that negatively impact both our hormones and overall  health in a deep and profound way.    And because many of these chemicals have been deemed "safe," we miss the  compound effect they are having inside of our bodies.    In the kick-off episode for our third season of Hormonally Speaking, I  speak with environmental toxins expert and self-professed nerd Lara Adler, who breaks down a ton of scientific info for us, including:   -How the industry studies chemical toxicity, and how this isn't the best  approach to determining the actual effects on our health  -Specifically how these chemicals impact our hormone receptors, as well  as how they mimic our own hormones  -Where to look for the biggest offenders, and how to start clearing  these chemicals out of your environment    This is a power-packed episode of information that will surprise you,  and just might be the key to your hormonal dysregulation.    Lara Adler is a Certified Holistic Health Coach and self-educated  Environmental Toxins Expert. She's been a featured speaker on over a  dozen Summits, dozens of podcasts, and appeared in a 9-Part Documentary  Film Series viewed by millions around the world. She is a member of the  Naturopathic Association of Environmental Medicine and the American  Holistic Health Association.  She's attended lectures and symposiums presented by highly respected  institutions like the New York Academy of Sciences, and the Mount Sinai  Children’s Environmental Health Center and by many of the top names in  Epigenetics, Hormone Disruption, and Environmental Health, on topics  ranging from prenatal chemical exposures to environmental chemicals  impact on the developing brain.  She reads books on plastics, flame retardants, and water fluoridation  for fun, and feels honored to share what I know with others, so they can  make smarter, healthier choices. Season 2, Episode 29: Syncing Your Skin Care with Your Menstrual Cycle w/Rachel Kraus

    48:14

Do you change your skincare routine throughout the month? Probably not (I know I don't!).  But why not? It turns out our skin cycles too, based on our hormones (of course).  On today's episode, I'm talking with skin care specialist Rachel Kraus, founder of Dirty Peach Skin, about how our skin changes throughout our menstrual cycle. We dive into what types of products, ingredients, and practices are best depending on if you find yourself in your follicular, ovulatory, luteal, or menstrual phase.  We also talk about toxins found in much of skincare out there, and what you should be looking out for. Skin is our biggest organ, so it matters what we put on it! If you have trouble with breakouts around your period, dry skin, sensitive skin (I had to get in a question about rosacea!), this is the revolutionary episode for you. Rachel Kraus is the owner and founder of Dirty Peach Skin. An  innovative skin care company that uses the power of clean products and  cycle syncing to kick hormonal acne to the curb! We formulate products  to be safe for women's hormones and fertility. And we believe in  changing the beauty industry by making skincare more about women's  health and less about beauty. Rachel has been formulating  products for close to a decade and recently found herself in the women's  health industry after having multiple issues with hormonal acne and  period problems! All of which was solved by her own products and cycle syncing! Season 2, Episode 28: Quitting Alcohol For Emotional Well-Being and Hormone Health w/Tēfa Hallock

    55:47

Been feeling hungover lately after only a glass of wine?   Notice that your energy is off the entire day after enjoying a cocktail?   Does sleep escape you when you include a beer with dinner?   These are all signs that alcohol may be working far more against you these days rather than helping to calm you down.  And it  may be one of the biggest reasons your hormones are out of whack.   In this week's episode, I chat with Tēfa Hallock, who decided to quit  drinking two years ago when she noticed how much it was impacting her  energy and ability to focus on her daughter's needs.    Though not a big drinker before, Tēfa learned how much alcohol was  influencing not only her energy, but also her emotional world. We dive  into what this experience has taught her, the benefits physically as  well as spiritually, and how she deals with social experiences now (yes,  she still goes out!).    We also talk about the ways that her menstrual cycle changed after  giving up alcohol, which is particularly important for women in their  40s as their hormonal landscape is shifting and the liver needs extra  support. One study recorded increased levels of estrogen, testosterone,  and luteinizing hormone (LH) after just one alcoholic drink.    Raw and authentic, this interview provides a window into recognizing  when alcohol is impacting more than you think.    Tēfa Hallock's unique resume blends 25 years of environmental activism  with decades of business leadership, project management, and sustainable  local government work. Her interdisciplinary expertise is a valuable  asset to elected officials, CEO's, and executive directors who must  remedy complex environmental, operational, or financial issues.    Tēfa's ability to cultivate successful endeavors while staying true to  core values makes her a welcomed member of many teams, especially those  looking to make a real difference in the world. Season 2, Episode 27: Fertility Through the Ages w/Dr. Cleopatra

    46:37

Fertility is a tough subject for many women these days, but it doesn’t have to  be. In today’s interview, Dr. Cleopatra shares with us how you can not  only easily get pregnant in your 20s, 30s, and 40s, but you can also  have the superbaby of your dreams! If  you’ve struggled to get pregnant, take heart – Dr. Cleopatra will make  you a believer because she’s helped so many women around the world to  get there. Focused on what she calls the “primemester” – the 3 months  before you fall pregnant – it’s all about using epigenetics and  cutting-edge research to help you naturally conceive. Dr. Cleopatra is The Fertility Strategist and Executive Director of  The Fertility & Pregnancy Institute. She is a scientist and  university professor who pioneered the field of fertility biohacking and  creating superbabies. To date, Dr. Cleopatra has scientifically studied  tens of thousands of women and families and has helped women in 19  countries on 6 continents have their superbabies. She has received  nearly $3 million in grant funding from multiple arms of the National  Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the National  Institute on Standards Technology, and private foundations, including  the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Dr. Cleopatra has been cited  in over 1,000 scientific studies in the past 5 years alone, and is a  selected member of the Fulbright Specialists Roster. Dr. Cleopatra is  the author of the forthcoming book detailing her revolutionary at-home  conceiving system, the Primemester Protocol. Dr. Cleopatra  teaches women to use the primemester—the magical and powerful window of  opportunity before pregnancy when we literally have the power to change  the quality and expression of the genes that we pass down to our babies  and grandbabies—to create their superbabies. Using the  science-driven, big-hearted Primemester Protocol developed and refined  by Dr. Cleopatra over the past 24 years, in combination with the  cutting-edge process of Fertility Epigenetic Tailoring, The Fertility  & Pregnancy Institute supports women in their 20s, 30s, and 40s to  reverse reproductive aging; get pregnant quickly and easily; reduce  miscarriage risk; and finally have the superbaby they have been dreaming  of for as long as they can remember. Dr. Cleopatra and her  husband, Jaïr, have three superbabies who were conceived on the first  try using the Primemester Protocol and born in March (all three of  them!) right before Dr. Cleopatra’s 35th, 37th, and 40th birthdays. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/christine-garvin/support
