Wild on 7th- Episode #116: Carts and King, Trivia, and PJ Fleck's Leap

The Minnesota Wild are kicking off the season with their first long road trip, and they head into Madison Square Garden tonight with high hopes.  Ryan Carter and John King bring you another installment of your favorite hockey podcast. While King is rocking his new shirt from the Lainey Wilson show the other night, Carts gives flowers to Jesper Wallstedt, the guys discuss Daniel Yurov's recent contributions, and King's love of Dallas.  Stick around for some fun with another 25th anniversary trivia segment, and even a college football check-in for the guys to discuss coaching, and PJ Fleck's recent jump for joy.

Minnesota Wild drop their home opener against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but it has been a hot start for Matt Boldy and dolla dolla bill Kirill Kaprizov. Ryan Carter and John King breakdown the first couple games of the season, talk about the home opener, and shut down the nonsense from the critical Minnesota fanbase. If the glass is half full, do as this pod preaches, and break the mold of negative perspectives. The hosts have some fun with another round of 25th anniversary trivia, and an 11-time Stanley Cup Champion, and former Minnesota Wild Head Coach, Jacques Lemaire joins us for a walk down memory lane. Don't take nutritional or food safety tips from a hockey podcast...or you may end up with blue egg shell on your face.

From deep-fried favorites to sweet treats, they break down all the foods they tried before diving into the latest Wild news — including Marco Rossi’s signing and a look back at Bill Guerin’s one-of-a-kind memorabilia. Special guests Zeev Buium and Lou Nanne join the show to talk about the importance of player signatures and the the current state of USA hockey in the international game. It’s a packed episode you won’t want to miss!

This episode was recorded Tuesday, August 19th — just ahead of the Marco Rossi signing. Carts and King head over to Bill Guerin’s home to dive into all the hot-button topics for the upcoming season. From new dress codes to load management, Billy G isn’t holding back with his takes. Carts and King swing by the TRIA studio for a marathon summer vibe check in the State of Hockey.  The guys talk about their summer plans so far, the never ending trolling feed from the Stanley Cup Champions, the NHL Draft, shaking up free agency, and obviously the vibe check since some major Wild pieces are currently without signed deals.  Can King get any sleep when the kids are out for the night?  I think he'll feel much better when Rossi and Kaprizov "make it home safely," and he can relax.  Hope you can enjoy a wonderful summer pod to hold you over until the Minnesota State Fair.  Details to be announced in the coming weeks.

The Minnesota Wild have been beaten by the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, but the reality is, this season felt different. Not only did the team battle through adversity through the entire season and seemed to maintain, if not excel in areas without huge pieces of their team missing, but they entered the playoffs and carried themselves with a bit more experience than we are used to seeing. Give it a listen, and head into the off season with more experience than you had last year, and get ready, because next fall will be here faster than you think.  A season finale will drop next week.
