Based on the off-Broadway stage musical (itself adapted from Roger Corman’s 1960 film), the movie follows the nerdy florist Seymour Krelborn (Rick Moranis – Ghostbusters, Honey I Shrunk the Kids) who discovers a mysterious man-eating plant he names Audrey II. As the plant grows, so does Seymour’s fame and fortune — but Audrey II’s insatiable hunger for human flesh spirals into chaos. Ellen Greene (Pushing Daisies, Leon: The Professional) shines as Audrey, Seymour’s love interest, while Steve Martin (The Jerk, Planes, Trains & Automobiles) delivers an iconic performance as sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello. The film also features memorable appearances from Vincent Gardenia (Moonstruck, Bang the Drum Slowly) as Mr. Mushnik, James Belushi (Saturday Night Live, Red Heat), and Bill Murray (Groundhog Day, Ghostbusters) in one of the film’s most famous comedic cameos.
