Spiritual Autonomy, Part 1 (2022)

Your objective is to move from spiritual self-esteem to spiritual autonomy and eventually to spiritual maturity—where you glorify God to the maximum. Remember the key to spiritual autonomy is knowledge and application of God’s Word. “I have hidden Your Word in my heart so I would not sin against You” (Ps 119:11). In spiritual autonomy, you have contentment which is sharing the happiness of God. When you are content then God can bless you more and it won’t distract you from growing in grace and knowledge. My cup overflows. Certainly goodness and faithfulness will follow me all the days of my life” (Ps 23:5-6). You’ve got to have insight and understanding from God’s Word so you don’t focus on your light afflictions now but rather focus on eternal things. Redeem your time wisely and God will give you more time to glorify Him. God has given you ministering angels to watch over you and protect you. In essence, you have a heavenly secret service detail! “He will give His angels charge concerning you to guard you in all of your ways” (Ps 91:11). Spiritual autonomy is being able to govern yourself by staying filled with the Holy Spirit and applying the Word of God you have stored in your soul. You don’t need to run to your pastor or a friend to get answers. You know to use divine viewpoint and go to God’s Word for the answers. Spiritual autonomy is a key to understanding your destiny in Christ. Mental stability is having the ability to accurately apply what you’ve learned from the Word of God to the testing you face. Psalm 119 teaches the importance of God’s Word and our submission to the authority of the Word of God which results in happiness and fulfillment. Ps 119:11 is the key to having spiritual autonomy, “Your Word I have hidden in my heart so that I might not sin against you.” Also note these verses: “How blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord.” “Establish Your Word in me.” “It is good for me that I was afflicted that I may learn Your Word.” “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”Click for Full Transcript: https://rhem.pub/spiritual-autonomy-a71cdd

God leaves you here for a reason. Don’t give up and rust. Your soul never gets old. When you are faithful to grow in the grace and in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ you leave a faithful witness. This is your charge from God, Psalm 71:18, “Now when I am old and grey-headed, O God, do not forsake me until I declare Your strength to this generation and Your power to everyone who is to come.” Our job in old age is to declare His power and His strength. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race and I have kept the faith” (2 Tim 4:6-7). When the time comes to die, you want to be able to say, “I did my job, I fought the good fight, I finished my race and I kept the faith.” Don’t let issues of health and disease distract you. These are opportunities to trust God and utilize His marvelous provisions to run the race. “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak” (Is 40:29). Every day the Word of God gives you new life and the Holy Spirit empowers you. “Be exalted Lord in your own strength and we will sing and praise Your power” (Ps 21:13). “Above all else guard your heart for everything you do flows from it” (Prog 4:23). Scripture distinguishes between the heart and the mind. The mind is where you assimilate information, and the heart is where you store the information ready to be recalled. Your thoughts can be hijacked if you’re not careful. You guard your heart with discretion and understanding that comes from divine wisdom. When you learn the Word of God under the ministry of a well-qualified pastor and comply with it, it’s called divine wisdom. The Word of God is the belt of truth. “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right… think on these things” (Phil 4:8). Concentrating on these things is how you keep your mind from being hijacked by cosmic distortion, the lies of the world. “Set your minds on the things above, not on earthly things” (Col 3:2). To live your amazing new life in Christ you’ve been given a personal coach and guide, God the Holy Spirit, as well as divine resources. “The Holy Spirit will teach you all things” (John 14:25-26). God the Holy Spirit lives in you! At the moment of salvation, the Holy Spirit indwells you and sealed you. This means that no one can take you out of God’s hand. “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Cor 3:16). As a Christian, you are a citizen of heaven, not earth. Heaven is beyond description. “The eye has not seen nor has the ear heard nor has it entered into the heart of man the things God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Col 2:9). There are three regions of heaven. The first heaven is the atmosphere, the oxygen we breathe and the blue skies above. The second heaven is the universe with the stars and planets. The third heaven is the abode of God. None of us can see the third heaven, the spiritual realm. Keep your mouth shut and mind your own business. This is the motto of the Christian. “Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business” (1 Thes 4:11). Have the right motivation and priority, to study God’s Word, and mind your own business and you’ll go a long way in the plan of God. “Study to show yourself approved unto God” (2 Tim 2:15). We are never authorized as a believer to gossip, judge or slander anyone. These are some of the seven worst sins identified in the Bible. Early on in your advance to spiritual maturity, you need to learn how to control your emotions and your tongue. “Those who are wise store up knowledge but the mouth of a stubborn fool invites ruin” (Prov 10:14). Obedience to God is mandated in the Bible. There are hundreds of divine mandates about obedience. “For this is the love of God that we keep His mandates and His mandates are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3). They aren’t hard. We are to obey God rather than men. Your volition is where you choose to obey or disobey God. Disobeying a mandate from God is a sin. Obedience requires humility and the filling of the Holy Spirit. There is only one way to heaven. Christ said, “I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6). A delusion of the devil is you can work your way into heaven through human good. This delusion of the devil contends that faith is not enough for salvation, that you have to do something else. The world and the flesh are capable of doing good things that are not compatible with God’s plan. As a Christian, you produce either divine good, production when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, or human good, everything done in carnality. Human good will be judged and burned up at the Judgment Seat of Christ. Human good is never acceptable to God. God provides everything you need to live your spiritual life and produce divine good. A delusion of the devil is that by being good you will get to God and that if we would all be good the world would be a much better place.
