Jim Madden thinks the market is precarious as the top 10% of consumers account for 50% of U.S. spending. He argues that these consumers are relying on stock market gains to continue their spending, which in turn depends on a narrow basket of tech stocks, which in turn are relying on AI hype – and OpenAI in particular. Thus, diversification is crucial for investors to protect themselves; he likes Nvent Energy (NVT), Darling Ingredients (DAR), and Bentley Systems (BSY).
