Analysis: Carolina dominated the early part of the 1st period, then VGK dominated the early part of the 2nd period. Each time found a way to control the game in their own way for decently long stretches and both were opportunistic with their chances. VGK continued to find ways to generate chances in the 3rd period and a couple of magnificent passes from Shea Theodore and Colton Sissons set up Brett Howden and Tomas Hertl for go-ahead goals. The 6-on-5 defense was outstanding once again and VGK have swept Game 1’s in the 2026 playoffs. (Recap by Ken)

Still trying to understand how they blew icing on the call before the CAR goal. Smith is clearly to that puck first. Missed call hurts VGK there for sure.

VGK's top-six has done an excellent job of creating unexpected turnovers. They've taken pucks away in weird ways a number of times and it's paying off. Latest is a steal by Barbashev that leads to another PP.

Little spray and pray from the point puts VGK right back in it.
Theodore fires it from the point, goes off a Carolina shin and into the goal.
VGK have cut it in half. Huge goal. 2-1
