This past August, a multi-state settlement was announced, leaving Meta to pay billions of dollars to the 47 states involved. But not every state accepted Meta’s settlement. In fact, Florida Attorney General, James Uthmeier, outright rejected the settlement, and has refused to sign on. Attorney General Uthmeier has called the amount of the settlement, “peanuts” compared to the harm Meta's profit-driven addictive features have inflicted on children, and announced that he will see Meta in court to get the justice his state’s victims deserve. Dr. Phil sits down with Attorney General Uthmeier to learn more about he made the decision to reject the settlement. Dr. Phil will also discuss how Florida is working to protect children from the harmful effects of social media, including having passed the only outright age ban in the country.
