Rudy Giuliani just told Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) to skip this week’s 9/11 memorials: “It offends me.” Watch this before Friday’s ceremony and decide if America’s mayor is out of line — or saying what the families have been saying for months. It is the 25th anniversary. More than 2,700 people were murdered in New York that morning. Giuliani was the mayor who walked the pile. The man in that office now says he will stand at Ground Zero anyway. Giuliani, former Gov. George Pataki, and a petition that has cleared 100,000 signatures are telling him to stay home. This is not a manners debate. Pataki named the problem: Anyone who will not distance himself from Hasan Piker — who said America deserved September 11 — should not be there. Anyone who has refused to reject “globalize the intifada,” which Pataki says is a call for violence against Jews anywhere in the world, should not be at that site. Giuliani went further. The ceremony, he said, is for the families and for America to remember historically. Having lost friends there, Mamdani’s presence offends him.
Pat also covered:
Lindsay Clancy admitted she strangled her three kids — and a hung jury still couldn’t call it murder
College football is back, and BYU didn’t ease in: 63-7 over Utah Tech
James Talarico calls himself “a Christian who hates Christianity” — and he’s running for Senate anyway
A Muslim man shot two men outside a Tucson gay bar, left a list of gay businesses, and police called it a hate crime
Fulton Sheen warned after Roe: When the guilt of abortion hits, America would be full of mentally disturbed women
So Friday hangs on a simple question. Is Ground Zero a communal stage every official is entitled to — or a gravesite the families still get a say in? Should Mamdani skip the 9/11 ceremony? If someone you loved died in those towers, would you want this mayor standing there with you?
