According to a new CNN poll conducted by SSRS that focuses on Trump’s first year in office, a majority of Americans believe Trump is focused on the wrong priorities and doing too little to address the cost of living. The poll overall is not a good look for President Trump or the Republican Party. What are your thoughts on Trump's first year back in office? On Wednesday evening in Minneapolis a second ICE involved shooting occurred. The Department of Homeland Security said a federal law enforcement officer shot an individual who fled a traffic stop then along with two other people began attacking the officer. With protests and tensions continuing in the streets of Minneapolis in the wake of two shootings in the last week, President Trump has threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act, which would bring in armed forces to suppress the protests in Minneapolis. Jose Colon, one of the men convicted of killing Massachusetts State Trooper George Hanna back in 1983 is up for parole. Colon was 20 years old at the time of the murder and now qualifies for a parole hearing under the state’s new law that gives juveniles between the ages of 18-20 a second chance. Gov. Maura Healey wrote an opposition letter to the Parole Board this week, pushing against Colon’s release. Dan agrees with the governor and applauds her position on Colon. Sen. Elizabeth Warren delivered a speech this week on lowering housing costs, capping credit card rates, as well as discussing the Democratic Party losing in 2024 saying that the party should not back down from progressive policies as some suggest is the reason they lost the election. Dan agrees with Warren and thinks the Democratic Party should not change their priorities or policies. Warran also called out Pres. Trump during her speech, to which the president personally called her later that day. Gov. Healey wrote a letter to the state Parole Board urging them to deny parole for the man serving a life sentence without parole for his role in the murder of Massachusetts State Trooper George Hanna. A recent Supreme Court granted a retroactive parole review.
