Evening Wire: American Returned From Russian Prison & Macron Fumbles Riot Response | 10.21.26

Two pollsters are exposed for fabricating midterm data out of thin air. Did they move money, push candidates out of races, or manipulate the prediction markets? Plus, President Trump rallies the faithful in Iowa and tells voters to pretend he’s on the ballot, but is he winning over swing voters or just playing to safe crowds? Meanwhile, Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign releases an ad featuring opponent Amy Acton’s estranged mother urging voters to reject her daughter. It immediately ignited a firestorm of controversy.   And with less than two weeks until Election Day, the knives are out over whether the GOP’s midterm money bomb is actually working to defend red states like Kansas, South Carolina, and Texas. Father Carlos Martins, Catholic exorcist and host of The Exorcist Files, joins Georgia Howe and Daily Wire Executive Editor John Bickley to discuss demonic possession, haunted homes, and the Catholic Church’s approach to exorcisms. Martins shares accounts from his decades of experience, explains how exorcists distinguish alleged possession from mental or physical illness, and reveals how often people who seek help turn out not to be possessed. He also discusses what he believes opens the door to demonic activity, the role of confession and spiritual accountability in exorcisms, and whether Halloween brings a surge in possessions. Daily Wire Editor Emeritus Ben Shapiro joins host Tim Rice on Behind the Story to discuss the backlash against Pawn Shop, Daily Wire’s latest film, and the efforts to shut down its production in Livingston, Montana. Shapiro explains how protests, crew intimidation, and an attempted permit suspension by the city council threatened the production, and why the fight reflects a broader battle over political bias in Hollywood. He also discusses Daily Wire’s growing film slate, including Confession starring Rob Lowe and James Franco, and the company’s plans to challenge the traditional entertainment industry. Donald Trump just gave Andrew Klavan’s latest novel an unexpected endorsement, and the Daily Wire host joins Georgia Howe and executive editor John Bickley to discuss the sixth installment in his Cameron Winter mystery series. Klavan explains how he builds a long-running protagonist, why he outlines his mysteries, and how he balances political and cultural realities with his focus on flawed, deeply human characters. He also reflects on Hollywood’s response to his political views, the psychological and spiritual evolution of Cameron Winter, and whether the series could make its way to television.
