Casey and Jacob discuss their thoughts about professional development and different ideas they have tried to implement in their careers in order to better themselves as leaders. They work through the difficulties of finding time for professional development in a busy weekly schedule, and how getting better as a leader is something that needs to be pursued as a long term goal that gains traction over time. The two share personal stories of creative ways that they developed to best improve their abilities as leaders, and also potential drawbacks to focusing too much time or energy on strategies that are not particularly interesting or relevant to their specific work/life balances. Both agree that professional development can come in many shapes and forms, and that being open minded to new pursuits or resources can often lead to the most impactful development of all.
