Welcome to episode one of our six-part series AGA Expert Exchange: Nutrition in IBD. Our hosts Dr. Eric Vasiliauskas and Kelly Issokson, RD, LDN, are joined by guest Dr. Dale Lee to discuss the role of diet as a therapeutic approach for managing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The discussion will cover the distinction between symptoms and disease control, the use of enteral nutrition therapies, and the benefits of whole food-based diets. We will explore how exclusive enteral nutrition can be used to treat conditions like Crohn's disease and the importance of a close partnership with a dietitian. Our experts will also address the challenges and opportunities of using dietary therapy for IBD, including differences in nutritional therapy for adult versus pediatric patients and the future landscape of nutrition and IBD management.
