Empty nesting is staring me down. I'm not even sure how I feel about it.

My youngest son graduates from high school this month and then leaves for his summer counselor job just a few days later.  While I'm excited for him and his future, I'm sure going to miss him and wonder what life will be like without a child in the home.

I reached out to Cathy Lawdanski known as Retired Empty Nester on Instagram, to walk me through this transition time and provide wisdom going forward.

Regardless of what stage you are in, I think you'll appreciate Cathy's nuggets of wisdom. And if you're retired or an empty nester, go connect with Cathy!

We discuss:

  • How the dynamics change when people leave or come back to the household
  • Serve, learn and have fun
  • Coaching yourself like you would coach your child as friendships and communities change
  • Being intentional about developing community

Cathy is the content creator behind The Retired Empty Nester where she encourages women to THRIVE in these years through serving, learning and fun. She is a native Houstonian who married a boy from Milwaukee 40 years ago and has 2 grown daughters and 5 grandchildren.
