A June 17, 2026, court hearing addressed Karen Read's motion to compel a deposition and document production from non-party witness Colin Albert. The court expressed significant frustration with both legal teams over their "bitchiness" in emails and the inclusion of "arguments as facts" within their hyperbolic filings. While the defense claimed Albert had "virtually zero relevance" and had already sat for one deposition, the Judge insisted that a subpoena "needs to mean something" and rejected the suggestion to wait until the fall for a new appearance. Ultimately, the court ordered the attorneys to spend the weekend negotiating a "Goldilocks zone" for the scope of document discovery and to return the following Monday with a confirmed date for Albert’s deposition before the August discovery deadline.
