Singer D4vd Heads to Preliminary Hearing on Special-Circumstance Murder Charges | Crime Alert 07.13.26

Missy Bevers arrives at Creekside Church at 4:16 AM and begins setting up for her 5 AM fitness class. She doesn't realize that someone else is in the building. Video surveillance shows a person dressed in full police SWAT tactical gear walking through the halls of the church with an unusual gait while clutching a hammer.   Shortly before 5 AM, one of Bevers' students arrives, finding Bevers' body inside the church.  Bevers has puncture wounds to her head and chest. The student calls 911. In minutes, police and rescue arrive, and Missy Bevers is pronounced dead on the scene.  Creekside church has surveillance cameras inside and out of their property. Still, in a tough break for cops, the outside cameras don't work. Police rule out Missy Bevers' husband, Brandon, as he was on an annual fishing trip at the time of the murder. However, Missy Bevers' death investigation now includes a vehicle of interest that police say was captured on surveillance cameras at a nearby business just before the murder. When Iowa TV news anchor Jodi Huisentruit fails to show up for her morning show, coworkers know something is wrong. Huisentruit's red Mazda Miata is still in the parking lot, as well as other evidence that suggests a struggle had taken place near the car. Her personal items, a hairdryer, lipstick, and red high heel shoes, as well as a bent car key, were strewn about the area. Police recovered an unidentified palm print from her vehicle. Neighbors report hearing screams at about the time that Huisentruit would have been leaving for work. The popular TV personality is still missing more than two decades later,  but private investigator Steve Ridge has announced a new lead.  He says a former girlfriend came forward claiming an initial person of interest (now deceased)  confessed, "I did it." Ridge's findings were submitted to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).The investigation remains officially open. The FBI and other federal agencies are investigating the deaths and disappearances of more than a dozen top scientists and personnel tied to NASA, Los Alamos Nation Laboratory and  classified military research.   The remains of Los Alamos worker Melissa Casias were found in Carson National Forest  nearly a year after she vanished. Police records revealed that missing retiree Anthony Chavez had been researching quantum physics with a Los Alamos scientist.   In the meantime the February disappearance of retired Air Force General William Neil McCasland,  continues. In 2019, Christine Holloway, 43, was found dead in her bathtub, beaten. Her 14‑month‑old daughter, Vanessa Morales, vanished.   Police arrested Jose Morales, 48, Vanessa's father, for the murder. He testified two intruders broke into the apartment, one of them attacked Holloway with a crowbar, and then took the child.  Morales claimed he was high on PCP, unable to stop the attack.  Prosecutors alleged Morales struck Holloway repeatedly with a blunt object. He then cleaned the scene for 37 hours,  disposing of the blood‑soaked evidence. Morales was convicted in April last year of murder and evidence tampering, sentenced  to 65 years in prison.    The child, Vanessa, was last seen two days before her mother's death.
