Christa Pike Awake, Speaking After Botched Execution, Shackled to Bed

Christa Pike's scheduled execution, aborted after failed attempt to deliver fatal drugs. Tennessee administered two doses of pentobarbital, but she did not die. Witnesses reported that she continued breathing and making snoring-like sounds long after the drugs were administered. She was eventually taken by ambulance to a hospital.

After being unconscious, and on a ventilator, Pike has regain consciousness and is speaking. The state's remaining execution for 2026 and has been halted.
