Bryan Kohberger says he is innocent in the murders of four University of Idaho students, and wants to withdraw his guilty plea to go to trial. Kohberger is serving four consecutive life sentences. In a written statement, Kohberger declared: “My actual innocence is my truth, and the plea, hinged on by false promises and blatant disinformation, MUST be withdrawn.” He has filed a petition for post‑conviction relief to have his guilty plea rescinded.

Kohberger claims that he was coerced into pleading guilty, misled about the consequences of the plea, told false promises about life in prison and death row conditions.
