Drug overdoses in the US are at a record high. Heroin has been replaced by the single deadliest drug threat to our nation, Fentanyl. Marijuana has been decriminalized in over 20 states, yet people remain in federal prison serving mandatory sentences for possession and sale of marijuana. In the past fifty years, the ‘war’ on drugs has fueled incarceration, exacerbated addiction and hampered economic progress.

Lava for Good's The War on Drugs podcast, co-hosted by comedian Clayton English and Greg Glod, senior criminal justice fellow at Americans for Prosperity, shines a spotlight on how our communities have crumbled under the weight of this so-called ‘war,’ and explores the politicization of public healthy policy, institutional racism and classism in the legislation and administration of criminal law, and how decriminalization and other alternatives could bring the fruitless ‘war’ to an end.
