Which is now a successful tour company that brings people from all over the world together to explore new places, all while enjoying the wines and more of each region.Gail, like many others, began her professional life in corporate sales dealing with software and technology. Lucrative profession? Yes? Satisfying? For Gail, not so much.Knowing at a very young age that she wanted to travel, heading into the corporate world instead, this dream of traveling never left. So after years climbing the corporate ladder, she jumped to a different rung and paved the way for her to finally follow her passion. As a art history major, it was easy for her to see the art of brewing. She could compare art and beer together. Beer being its own medium.Starting at Third Space in 2020, Sam worked her way up from brewers assistant to where she is now, always appreciating beer and brewing as an art form and a collaborative and welcoming space.Not only is this Sam's story, this is a story for women in the brewing industry. A story about collaboration bringing women back into the fold of a story they began hundreds of years ago. About Pink Boots Society and Pink Boots Collab Brew DaySam's recipe for the Pink Boots Collab Brew Day, Like a Girl, resonates that belief in all aspects of the process. As a former Pink Boots Chapter Head and current member, Sam loves bringing women together to brew beer. Michel, Vivian, and Hiram, are not just every day people. These three along with their team, make up two La Paz craft breweries: Black Marlin Brewing Co and Pacific Brew. And while these three wonderful humans are brewers, owners, and entrepreneurs, more importantly, they are all also friends.And isn't that what craft beer is actually about? Community and friendship over a damn good beer? Exactly, and that is why we were lucky enough to chat with the three them together to learn more about Black Marlin Brewing Co and Pacific Brew. But to also learn more about the stories behind the people that have a passion for craft beer in Baja.Meet Michel and Vivian from Black Marlin Brewing CoMichel Davidson originally started Black Marlin as a cold brew coffee company. And then he met Hiram who had yet to open Pacific Brew. Hiram wanted to know if Michel had ever brewed beer before. Starting with a Mr. Brew Kit, Michel and Hiram gave it a go.Michel, a crossfit competitor and car lover, he figured why not also open a brewery and restaurant. Eventually he and Hiram excelled beyond that initial Mr. Brew. They purchased a kettle used to make tamales, modified it for brewing, and then roped Vivian into the mix. And as they say, the rest is history.Ernesto Vivian, co-founder at Black Marlin, athlete, architect, and designer, helped design and build out both taprooms. Alongside Michel and Hiram, Vivian helped to change the craft beer scene in La Paz and Baja Sur.Meet Hiram from Pacific BrewWorking at a bottle shop and then with Michel at Black Marlin Brewing Co, Hiram Saenz, a competitive skateboarder and once a culinary arts student, knew he wanted more than just a job. Welcome to Bikin' Bits - a bit about bikin' - so you don't have to look forever to find the trails you want to ride. Where we tell you the loops to ride, the loopdy-loops to ride, the uphills, the downhills.Where we summarize the trails, so you know exactly where you want to go, how long you want to spend, how much elevation you want to gain and how much descent you want to fly down. And of course there'll be a brewery recommendation or two at the end.Patagonia, Arizona, and the AZTPatagonia is a tiny little town in southern Arizona known for its big heart and gravel biking trails. But that doesn't stop the mountain bikers from paying a visit here. It's a welcoming place for all, including through hikers on the 800 mile Arizona Trail.Here's the Ride!Park in town in Patagonia right across from the Patagonia Lumber Company. This is very important because the Lumber Company is actually a beer and wine bar and makes for a great reward when done biking.Start in town and then head to Temporal Canyon Rd - about 6.6 miles of gravel road with around 800 feet of gain. Bonus: This road has some dispersed camping along the way.Then you'll be at a trailhead for the Arizona Trail where you'll get on the Temporal Gulch West Trail. Prepare yourself. This section is 4.5 miles with a 1,000 feet of gain.Finally, you're rewarded with 7.5 miles of down on the Temporal Gulch South Trail - descending about 1100 feet. Only if that pizza and beer with friends is in a home overlooking the stunning Colombian city of Medellin with the owners of Bufona Cervecería Colombiana, a craft brewery in the heart of Medellin, Colombia.Welcome to Bufona CerveceríaWelcome to Bufona, one of the newest cervecerías artesanales in Medellín, Colombia. With a patio located directly on the sidewalk in El Poblado, a bustling neighborhood of bars, eateries, shops, and a vibrant night life, this intimate taproom is not one to be passed by.Especially when you consider the meaning of the name, Bufona. Roughly translating to the likes of jesters or entertainers, Bufona Cerveceria Artesanal is exactly that. A place to get out of the hustle of everyday life. The goal here is community.Meet Daniel and TomasA passion for community and purpose always, beer didn’t enter the picture until later. In fact, Tomas, cofounder and self titled finance guy of Bufona, didn’t even like beer at first. Although he did become a bottle collector. As for liking beer now? There’s no doubt.Daniel, cofounder and brewer, on the other hand, liked beer since he started drinking in university. He never imagined, though, that he would become a professional brewer.The two met in high school. Tomas went on to university and became a psychologist. Daniel went on to university to study mechanical engineering. However, not finding the passion for it that he had envisioned, he took off traveling instead. It was on those travels that he happened upon a beer bar in South Africa where he fell in love with all the flavors of beer. Coming back to Colombia, Daniel couldn’t find those flavors, so he started brewing them.And since when owning a brewery you have to also make money, it made sense for the two of them to come together.Although Daniel jokes that there’s a lot more to owning a brewery than simply brewing.“When you're just starting, we are not a brewery, we are a cleaning service that occasionally brews.”And for anyone that knows brewing, there’s not a much truer statement than that.Their goals for Bufona are as big and beautiful as their country is.
