In this week's episode, Coach Brendan Suhr is joined by Joshua Adams — a former Wyoming standout, a professional player across ten countries, and now the founder of Pivot Growth Strategies.Adams traces a career that began in Parker, Colorado with almost no scholarship offers and turned on a single dunk at aWyoming team camp. He talks about playing for Larry Shyatt, going undrafted, the car accident that broke his neck weeksbefore his first professional contract, the Russian club that held that contract for seven months while he rehabbed, and the decade that followed across Russia, Turkey, China, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Greece, and Australia. From there the conversation turns to what he does now. Adams explains how an isolated stretch overseas during COVID started the work that became his second career, what he took from becoming a certified John C. Maxwell team member, why he treats potential as something you maximize rather than something you reach, and why coaching every player the same way no longer works. He also breaks down what the PIVOT acronym stands for and who he is trying to reach with it.All that and more on Episode 342 of the Coaching U Podcast presented by Noah Basketball.Noah Basketball is trusted by 28 NBA teams, over 200 NCAA programs, and over 1,000 high school programs to capture and analyze key shooting metrics to help your players perfect their shot and reach their max potential.Learn more at noahbasketball.comLearn more about Joshua's work at pivotgrowthstrategies.com or connect on Instagram at @pivotgrowthstrategiesThe full Shyatt Clinic video set is live now on Coaching U+ — including Ian Palmer's leadership session, plus Josh Schertz,Justin Gainey, God Shammgod, Brad Brownell, John Calipari, Nate Oats, Jai Lucas, and Billy Donovan.Watch this video set along with our entire library of Coaching U clinic videos anytime, anywhere, on any device NOW: https://coachinguplus.comNot a member? In this week's episode, Coach Brendan Suhr is joined by Noah LaRoche of Integrity Hoops — one of the brightest young minds working in the game today.LaRoche consults with NBA and WNBA teams, college programs, and clubs overseas, but he's still grounded by the fifth and sixth graders he coaches on the seacoast of New Hampshire. He traces the path that got him there: quitting an insurance job to coach youth basketball, packing his car for an unpaid internship with Tim Grover at ATTACK Athletics, and building a company he named after his late father's flooring business. From there he and Suhr get into the thinking behind the work. LaRoche explains why he reads everything except basketball books, why masters subtract while novices add, and why he barely speaks during his own practices. They dig into decomposing the game rather than simplifying it, why practice has to represent the game if learning is going to transfer, how he approaches walking into someone else's organization without ripping its fabric, and what he's found coaching NBA players, WNBA players, and sixth graders the same way.All that and more on Episode 341 of the Coaching U Podcast presented by Noah Basketball.Noah Basketball is trusted by 28 NBA teams, over 200 NCAA programs, and over 1,000 high school programs to capture and analyze key shooting metrics to help your players perfect their shot and reach their max potential.Learn more at noahbasketball.comThe full Shyatt Clinic video set is live now on Coaching U+ — including Ian Palmer's leadership session, plus Josh Schertz,Justin Gainey, God Shammgod, Brad Brownell, John Calipari, Nate Oats, Jai Lucas, and Billy Donovan.Watch this video set along with our entire library of Coaching U clinic videos anytime, anywhere, on any device NOW: https://coachinguplus.comNot a member? In this week's episode, Coach Brendan Suhr is joined by Ian Palmer — a retired U.S. Army colonel and leadership advisor for corporations, coaches, and teams.Palmer spent 26 years in the Army, moving from a 16-soldier tank platoon to command of a 5,000-soldier brigade combat team to chief of staff of an armored corps responsible for 90,000 people. He explains how the Army treats leadership as a continuously evolving laboratory rather than something you either have or don't, and why the skills that get someone promoted are almost never the skills the new job requires. From there he and Suhr get into what translates directly to a locker room: why leadership is always about people, the three questions every person on a team is silently asking, how to build discipline through clear expectations rather than rules, and why walking past a broken standard quietly creates a new and lower one. Palmer also makes the case for recruiting to character you've defined in advance, developing your assistants into head coaches, and leading from your own personality instead of copying the coach you worked for.All that and more on Episode 340 of the Coaching U Podcast presented by Noah Basketball.Noah Basketball is trusted by 28 NBA teams, over 200 NCAA programs, and over 1,000 high school programs to capture and analyze key shooting metrics to help your players perfect their shot and reach their max potential.Learn more at noahbasketball.comLearn more about Ian or book a consultation at www.ianpalmerleadership.com/The full Shyatt Clinic video set is live now on Coaching U+ — including Ian Palmer's leadership session, plus Josh Schertz,Justin Gainey, God Shammgod, Brad Brownell, John Calipari, Nate Oats, Jai Lucas, and Billy Donovan.Watch this video set along with our entire library of Coaching U clinic videos anytime, anywhere, on any device NOW: https://coachinguplus.comNot a member? In this week's episode, Coach Brendan Suhr is joined by Larry Shyatt — founder of the Shyatt Clinic, longtime college headcoach, and one of the great givers in the profession. The episode opens with a full rundown of this year's Shyatt Clinic in Charlotte, and all of those clinic videos are live now onCoaching U+.Shyatt then walks through a coaching life that began with a graduate assistant job at Utah and a Volkswagen Rabbit driven from Cleveland to Salt Lake City, then ran through Cleveland State, New Mexico, Providence, Clemson, Wyoming, Florida, and finally the Dallas Mavericks bench. He's candid about being fired in the ACC, about not being ready the first time he was a head coach, and about why he walked away from years and money left on his Wyoming contract to protect his staff. From there the two get into the craft. Shyatt explains where his defensive philosophy came from, why he built teams to shorten games rather than chase possessions, and the rope drill he used to make defensive positioning visible to his players. He and Suhr also discuss what he learned from hall of famers Rick Barnes and Billy Donovan, and why the question that matters most in coaching is whether you're a giver or a taker. All that and more on Episode 339 of the Coaching U Podcast presented by Noah Basketball.Noah Basketball is trusted by 28 NBA teams, over 200 NCAA programs, and over 1,000 high school programs to capture and analyze key shooting metrics to help your players perfect their shot and reach their max potential.Learn more at noahbasketball.comThe Shyatt Clinic videos are LIVE now on Coaching U+ — Josh Schertz, Justin Gainey, God Shammgod, Brad Brownell, JohnCalipari, Nate Oats, Jai Lucas, Billy Donovan, and more.Access this set along with our entire library of coaching clinic videos anytime, anywhere, on any device — including the full archive from every previous Coaching U Live event.Watch NOW: https://coachinguplus.comNot a member? In this week's episode, Coach Brendan Suhr is joined by Sam Purcell, head coach of Mississippi State women's basketball.Purcell takes us through his journey that began in Dalton, Georgia, ran through junior college in Wadley, Alabama, and turned on a chance decision to cold-call Cliff Ellis at Auburn — leading to a video-room scholarship, nine years alongside Jeff Walz at Louisville, and now his fifth season leading the Bulldogs. Along the way he shares what his parents taught him about opportunity and relationships, and how a round of golf changed his life. From there the two get into the craft: how recruiting became a lifestyle rather than an event, building culture when you mayonly have a player for nine months, why Walz ran a season on five practice plans, and what Purcell learned watching Cori Close at UCLA. He also breaks down his style of play, coaching a roster with players from five countries, and why he'd rather find the right system for his players than force his players into a system. All that and more on Episode 338 of the Coaching U Podcast presented by Noah Basketball.Noah Basketball is trusted by 28 NBA teams, over 200 NCAA programs, and over 1,000 high school programs to capture and analyze key shooting metrics to help your players perfect their shot and reach their max potential.Learn more at noahbasketball.comThe full video set from Coaching U Live 2026 in Las Vegas is now live on Coaching U+ — every speaker, every session, every strategy from all three days.Access our entire library of coaching clinic videos anytime, anywhere, on any device — including the full archive from every previous Coaching U Live event.Watch NOW: https://coachinguplus.comNot a member? In this week's episode, Coach Brendan Suhr is joined by Donnie Jones, head coach at Stetson University, for a conversation about leadership, connection, and coaching people rather than coaching basketball.Jones and Suhr open by discussing trust — how you build it quickly in a transactional era, why vulnerability creates vulnerability and how listening creates connection. Jones shares what he learned about serving players from his time alongside Billy Donovan at Florida, and reflects on friend and mentor John Maxwell's reminder that plenty of people can communicate but very few canconnect. From there the two get into the craft of coaching and the current landscape within the profession. Jones talks about maximizing the talent you have rather than the talent you wish you had, changing defenses to steal possessions and shift momentum, and the retention-first mindset that now decides seasons. All that and more on Episode 337 of the Coaching U Podcast presented by Noah Basketball.Noah Basketball is trusted by 28 NBA teams, over 200 NCAA programs, and over 1,000 high school programs to capture and analyze key shooting metrics to help your players perfect their shot and reach their max potential.Learn more at noahbasketball.comThe full video set from Coaching U Live 2026 in Las Vegas is now live on Coaching U+ — every speaker, every session, every strategy from all three days.CLICK HERE to start watching: https://coachinguplus.comNot a member? In this week's episode, Coach Brendan Suhr is joined by Frank Martin, head coach at the University of Massachusetts, for aconversation about the beauty in each coach's journey and what it actually means to teach the game.Martin traces his path from Little Havana and the impact a neighborhood coach named Shakey Rodriguez had on himself and so many others. From there the two discuss how he has continued to develop through sixteen years at Miami Senior High, to Northeastern, Cincinnati, Kansas State, a Final Four at South Carolina, and now UMass. From there the conversation turns to the craft: why coaching is teaching before it is anything else, why growth has to beuncomfortable before it can ever feel good, why confrontation inside a team is a sign of health, and what the modern game has lost in physicality and real competition. Suhr and Martin close with him giving his thoughts on trust, internal leadership, and why real love inside a program is only earned by surviving the storms together. All that and more on Episode 336 of the Coaching U Podcast presented by Noah Basketball.Noah Basketball is trusted by 28 NBA teams, over 200 NCAA programs, and over 1,000 high school programs to capture and analyze key shooting metrics to help your players perfect their shot and reach their max potential.Learn more at noahbasketball.comThe full video set from Coaching U Live 2026 in Las Vegas is now live on Coaching U+ — access our entire library of coaching clinic videos anytime, anywhere, on any device — including the full archive from every previous Coaching U Live event.Watch NOW: https://coachinguplus.comNot a member? The discussion covers the debates between Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa, Cameron Boozer, and Caleb Wilson while also exploring how front offices balance talent, fit, upside, development, and risk when making franchise-changing decisions. The conversation also dives into some of the draft’s most intriguing sleepers, under-the-radar prospects, and potential value picks throughout the first and second rounds.
