“Sometimes your soul just doesn’t fit in a cubicle,” says Chanel Lee, Owner of Living Beauty Florals. After working in corporate for over eleven years, Chanel finally decided to pursue her dream of running a flower shop full-time. While she has experienced her fair share of hiccups along the way, Chanel explains that she truly loves what she does and couldn’t be happier with her decision to follow an entrepreneurial path.

Before she became a florist and even before she entered a corporate role, Chanel was in beauty school with the intention of becoming a hairstylist. However, after giving birth to her daughter at the age of 19, this plan was sidetracked, as Chanel was forced to find a job that would support both her and her newborn. Despite flourishing in her corporate position, Chanel felt stifled by her cubicle and found no passion in the work she was doing. So, she stepped out on faith and opened her floral design business to model for her daughter the importance of drive and reaching for your dreams.

Tune into this week’s throwback episode of Breaking Labels to learn more about Chanel’s journey as a parent and an entrepreneur. Learn how Chanel has defied the label of “teen mom,” why you’re allowed to let go of the people and things that no longer serve you, and why going where the love is is the key to finding fulfillment.

Quotes
• “My kid is a flower. I constantly try to water her and just nurture her and help her grow, daily. So when I stepped out on faith and decided to start this business, I wanted to make sure that my kid saw the drive and the fight for the things that I truly wanted.” (11:38-12:12)

• “It doesn’t mean that because you’ve gotten pregnant at a young age that the whole world stops.” (16:22-16:27)

• “If there's love around you, love on it. If it's not love, abort the mission. You don’t have time for that because there are so many people out here who absolutely love, support and adore you. So if there's anyone in your life that you're questioning about that, abort mission. Go where the love is, go where you don't have to question the love in a room, and I will tell my daughter that til the day I die.” (28:13-28:40)

• “I give people advice every day when it comes to business and it is this: make sure that you are able to hold all your blessings when they come in because you have to be prepared for them. Sometimes that thing comes flying in hot and fast, you prayed for it, it’s on its way, and it’s coming. Are you prepared for it?” (33:47-34:09)

• “Sometimes your soul just doesn’t fit in a cubicle.” (46:25-46:29)

• “What God has for you is for you. There's a reason that you wake up and you can't stop thinking about your passion.” (48:39-48:45)
