šŸ•Šļø INTRO

Shalom, and grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Welcome to The Notes I Leave podcast.

The Hebrew word ā€œshalomā€ signifies more than mere peace; it signifies wholeness, completeness, well-being, harmony with God and others. All of which, I wish for you.

The purpose of this podcast is to share the diverse experiences I encounter as a professor, teacher, entrepreneur, student, father, son, brother, and follower of Christ Jesus. These notes are intended for you, now and in the future.

šŸ“– MAIN MESSAGE

šŸ“œ This week’s theme:

In this episode, I discuss how the Lord has reminded me of tricks the devil plays in our lives through distractions and evilness.

šŸ“œ Anchor verse(s):

1 What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: ā€œHe jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in usā€? 6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, ā€œGOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.ā€ 7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.

James 4:1-10, New American Standard Bible, 1995

šŸ“œ Application or takeaway:

The Lord has placed on my heart the need to shake those within my circle of influence.

šŸ™ TRANSITION TO MEMBERS

That is the heart of what the Lord laid on me this week—but for those of you walking this journey further with me, there is a deeper side I want to share; in the members-only section, I’ll be opening up about how this career change challenged me as a father and a disciple.

But first, I would like to leave you with a quote and question.

šŸ“š Quote:

ā€œIt is funny how mortals always picture us as putting things into their minds: in reality our best work is done by keeping things out.ā€

—C.S. Lewis

ā˜•ļø Question:

What is being kept out of your life that you think isn’t?

šŸ•Æļø PRAYER AND BLESSING

Father, thank You for guiding us—even when the path is not clear to us. Teach us to walk in humility, trust, and obedience.

Until next time, may the peace of Christ dwell richly in you and may I express ā€˜maranatha,’ which is an...
