Random Stuff on a Tuesday night

In this episode, I visit with Kirk McKnight, author of the book the Voices of Hockey. The book is a series of interviews with 65 NHL broadcasters, with a recently released audiobook version.

As promised last week, I will be making NFL picks on a weekly basis, so the first installment of those picks are included here. I also previewed the final three weeks of my summer book tour- which has gone by way too fast. Driving home from Vermont last weekend, I wanted to listen to some music on the four hour drive home. Granted, I have been giving a lot of attention to Jimmy Buffett lately, and rightly so, and I always will. But I was drawn to listen to Irish music on the ride home, and I entered " Makem and Clancy" into the Google search bar, and started listening. Am I glad I did! This is the music I grew up on, and hung onto every note for years. It made the trip home so much fun. The final part of the episode is , well, me playing some Clancy and Makem songs. Some are well known and some are "deep cuts." You'll always hear me singing JB's songs, but I'll never give up the Irish stuff. Here are a few songs for you to listen to. This week on the podcast, we take to the road. For just over 40 minutes I walked around Nantasket Avenue in Hull at Nantucket Beach and relived some great memories, talked about some of the sights and got some fresh air and some steps and exercise. A unique twist that was a lot of fun! Come along for the journey! A place near and dear to my heart.

We break down and examine all 32 teams and give analysis and predictions.

This episode brings me back to my earliest days in broadcasting, as I talk with a play by play commentator who I worked with dating back to my high school commentating days, Bruce Glazer. Lots of storytelling here as well as opinions on commentary and other topics.

In this episode, I chat with good friend and longtime journalist Mike Hardman, author of a new book called "Heartman-A Memoir." It is Mike's own personal story of his own near death experience. Have you ever wondered what the last moments of life would be like? What you would see? Hear? Would you see your life pass before you, like a movie? Mike shares his thoughts of his experience and how it can help and benefit others.

In this episode, I read a chapter from my new book, Living On Air. I did this for two reasons: 1) to increase awareness for the book; and 2) to create some excitement within myself to get narrating again and to see how a potential audiobook would sound.
