TENGRIDOME, Episode 24: Beyond ONE feat. Luke from BeyondKick

    1:21:52

ONE: First Strike was eagerly anticipated by kickboxing fans across the world from the very moment it was announced, and it absolutely delivered: it turned out to be one of the most explosive and action-packed kickboxing events in a good old while. Kickboxing in general is jam-packed with exciting talent, and clashes between the best of the best frequently result in some of the most memorable moments across all combat sports. In this week's TENGRIDOME, Iggy is joined by Luke from the BeyondKick community to gush about the mind-blowing outcome of Giorgio Petrosyan vs. Superbon and the all the wild balls-to-the wall action that happened on the rest of the card. Together, they break down the event fight-by-fight, and discuss the sport of kickboxing at large, its pecularities, and some of the reasons why it occupies such special place in the hearts of its followers. TENGRIDOME, Episode 22: Solving a Problem: Tyron Woodley

    2:12:16

For quite a while now, TENGRIDOME served as a platform for exploration of fight analysis from a "bird's eye" perspective: what it is, how to do it, and how to communicate it. Much of what Iggy and his guests do on any given episode can be called "meta-analysis". Well now is as good time as any to test some of the postulates explored and explained in the previous episodes, and use the established methodology to evaluate and analyse a specific case study. This is "Solving a Problem", and today's case study is Tyron Woodley. Tyron Woodley and his career have been discussed many times before by other analysts and outlets but it always felt like all these disparate viewpoints lacked completeness: the evaluations were of either a purely statistical nature — highly dependent on limited and at times inaccurate data, and thus of questionable overall validity — or a purely narrative one, highly subjective and dependent on the analyst's historical understanding of combat sports, theoretical knowledge and practical know-how — all of which are bound to be affected by so many variables listing them all merits an entire discussion in itself. This discussion seeks to paint a fuller picture, and create a more complete and comprehensive evaluation of a fighter's career and skills using all of the above described sources of knowledge and analytical methods, and hopefully it will provide an illustrative example of the Fight Site's combat sports analysis methodology. 1:18:20

Alexander Volkanovski is the pound-for-pound #1 fighter in the world. Ed and Sriram describe how their opinion of Volk has grown higher than ever, ways Ortega surprised and impressed them, and of course they go off on some of the horrendous work done by referees at UFC 266. 1:28:44

Tumen is joined by the Fight Site founder and boxing historian Kyle McLachlan and the Fight Site's boxing analyst Lukasz Fenrych to gush about the peerless masterclass in technical boxing that was Oleksandr Usyk's performance against Anthony Joshua. They recap the fight, ruminate on the significance of Usyk's achievement, and try their best to mythbust some of the weird talk circulating online about Anthony Joshua's inability to handle the Ukrainian's fighting prowess.
