The 49ers are Really Freaking Good & a World Cup Draw that Felt like a Loss for the U.S.
24:39On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on the San Francisco 49ers' blowout victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football. We've been saying for weeks that the Niners appear to be a lock to make the NFC Championship game, at a minimum. The running game with Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell is strong, Jimmy Garoppolo has a plethora of weapons headlined by Deebo Samuel and George Kittle, and the defense is loaded with playmakers like Nick Bosa. Heading into December, the NFC appears to be a three horse race between the Niners, Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. The AFC, however, is much tougher to call. We can all agree that Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are the favorites, but the Buffalo Bills have played uneven football for weeks, the Cincinnati Bengals have a brutal schedule coming up and the teams like the New York Jets and Los Angeles Chargers aren't even locks to make the playoffs. Unlike the NFC where the top 3 teams are a cut above the rest, the AFC is likely going to come down to playoff seeding. Later, J-Mac does a deep dive into the U.S. Men's National Team's disappointing draw against Wales in the World Cup. The USMNT outplayed Wales throughout the first half (and parts of the second) but had it all come crashing down thanks to a late foul that set up the game-tying goal by Gareth Bale. Given how dominant England looked on Monday, that draw definitely felt like a loss for Team USA. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Vikings are Frauds, an Honest Conversation About Justin Herbert & Should the Jets Bench Zach Wilson?
47:16On today's episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring the excitement to what had been a rather mundane NFL Sunday. First off, it's become painfully obvious that the New York Jets have a Zach Wilson problem. The second-year quarterback should've been benched in the Jets' ugly loss to the New England Patriots. He's missing open receivers, he's throwing the ball into coverage and worst of all he seems oblivious to the impact he's having on the rest of his teammates. Whether it happens during the season or in the offseason, the Jets will certainly be making a quarterback change. Speaking of quarterbacks, fresh off the latest Los Angeles Chargers collapse, Rob G believes it's time that we have an honest conversation about Justin Herbert. Herbert has elite tools, but is he really an elite quarterback? He doesn't win games as often as you'd expect and his numbers this season have been mostly middle-of-the-road. Moving over to the NFC, it's clear after the Dallas Cowboys' blowout victory on the road in Minnesota that Kirk Cousins and the Vikings are frauds. How else do you explain away an 8-2 team having a negative point differential? Outside of a miraculous win over the Buffalo Bills last week, the Vikings have been destroyed every time they step up in class. On the flip side, Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys proved on Sunday that the overtime loss last week against the Green Bay Packers was an aberration and that they should be viewed as legitimate Super Bowl contenders coming out of the NFC; Just imagine if Dallas can find a way to land Odell Beckham Jr. Finally, the guys close the show with a very special Monday Night Football San Francisco 49ers-Arizona Cardinals edition of the Best Bet. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - The Packers are Toast, NFL and World Cup Best Bets + Westgate SuperBook's Jay Kornegay
54:08On today’s episode, Jason gets the party started with a full recap of the Tennessee Titans’ dismantling of the Green Bay Packers on Thursday Night Football. Ryan Tannehill was tremendous Derrick Henry accounted for two touchdowns. On the flip side, Aaron Rodgers was mostly bad save for a few throws here and there. With the loss, it’s safe to say that the Packers are toast and will miss the playoffs for the first time in the Matt LaFleur Era. Later, Westgate Las Vegas Vice President of Race and Sports Operations Jay Kornegay swings by to discuss how the SuperBook dealt with bets made on the Buffalo Bills vs. Cleveland Browns after the game was moved to a neutral site due to inclement weather, why the number of the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Indianapolis Colts keeps moving in Indy’s direction, why it appears as though the Pros are on the Carolina Panthers and the Joes are on the Baltimore Ravens, where the sharps are in the AFC East showdown between New England Patriots and the New York Jets, how difficult it was to set the line for the big NFC showdown between the Minnesota Vikings and the Dallas Cowboys, why the sharps have been in on the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks for most of the season, why publicizing the betting action is more about entertainment rather than giving bettors an edge, and much more! KD is Trying to Get Back to the Bay + Pro Football Focus lead NFL analyst Sam Monson
41:03On today’s episode, Jason gets the party started by sharing his thoughts on Kevin Durant’s bombshell interview with Bleacher Report. It’s clear in the piece that KD is laying the groundwork for yet another trade demand out of Brooklyn. How else do you justify him publicly calling out members of the coaching staff and throwing his teammates under the bus?!? Moreover, given all the uncertainty surrounding the Golden State Warriors (Draymond Green’s punch, Klay Thompson’s underwhelming play, etc.), would it really be all that shocking if Durant and the Warriors decide to join forces yet again? It’s definitely something to monitor. Later, Pro Football Focus lead NFL analyst Sam Monson swings by to discuss the biggest difference between coaches like Jeff Saturday and Josh McDaniels, what has led to Josh Allen’s general regression as a quarterback the last few weeks, why he believes Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins have arguably the best offense in the NFL, how the New York Giants have been able to survive with poor offensive line play while the Los Angeles Rams have not, whether or not Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers offense truly turned a corner last week, why he believes the Philadelphia Eagles are still the best team in the NFC, and much more! Finally, J-Mac closes the show with the Tennessee Titans vs Green Bay Packers Thursday Night Football edition of the Best Bet*. *Please note we had some audio issues while recording the Best Bet which have since been resolved. Pac-12 Network analyst Yogi Roth on USC's Playoff Chances, Elite 11 Quarterbacks & More!
42:16On today’s episode, Pac-12 Network analyst and ‘5 Star QB: It’s Not About the Stars, It’s About the Journey’ author Yogi Roth swings by for a lengthy conversation with Jason and discusses why he believes the Pac-12 compares favorably to almost any conference in the country and it’s on the strength of their quarterbacks, why he believes the Arizona Wildcats could be really dangerous next season, the College Football Playoff implications of this week’s game between the USC Trojans and the UCLA Bruins, why he believes USC should be a lock for the CFP Final Four if they win their remaining three games, why the CFP committee’s treatment of the Pac-12 champion will show what they really value when these rankings are released, the inexact science that is quarterback evaluation – especially as it relates to Washington’s Michael Penix Jr., why he puts USC’s Caleb Williams alongside the most elite quarterbacks he’s ever been around, and much more! Taylor Heinicke Ruins the Eagles' Perfect Season & Kliff Kingsbury's Veiled Shot at Kyler Murray
24:02On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on the Washington Commanders' upset victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Taylor Heinicke is the kind of success story every sports fan loves to tell their kids about so it was pretty awesome to see him perform as well as he did on the big stage. His numbers don't jump off the page, but he's got all the moxie in the world and his teammates seem to love him. Don't look now...but the Commanders have an outside shot at the playoffs. On the flip side, everything that could go wrong did go wrong for Jalen Hurts and the Eagles. They turned the ball over three times (which they never do), they lost the second quarter (which they never do) and the opposing kicker drilled two from 55+ yards out (which never happens); the perfect season is over. Later, J-Mac explains how Kliff Kingsbury's comments praising Colt McCoy were actually a veiled shot at starting quarterback Kyler Murray. The Kingsbury-Kyler dynamic has been off for a long time, and there have been rumors that teammates like Budda Baker and JJ Watt aren't big fans of Kyler either. This is definitely something that bears. Finally, our fearless leader closes the show with a very quick NBA whip around. Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Josh Allen is out of the MVP Race, the Raiders are the Most Disappointing Team in the NFL & the Truth About the Dolphins
57:15On today’s episode, Jason and Super Producer Rob G (Robert Guerra) bring you wall-to-wall reaction to Week 10 in the NFL. The Minnesota Dolphins earned a shocking win over the Bills to keep their homes of earning #1 seed in the NFC in-play, but the big story here is what's going on in Buffalo. Josh Allen has officially been eliminated from MVP consideration. His rollercoaster play so far this season (big plays and brutal turnovers) has cost the Bills several games on the year, and now it's not even a lock that Buffalo wins the AFC East. Sticking in the AFC, has any team been more disappointing than the Las Vegas Raiders? Josh McDaniels and the boys lost to the Jeff Saturday-led Indianapolis Colts to fall to 2-7 on the season. It's unfathomable that McDaniels could take over a playoff team from last year, add Davante Adams and Chandler Jones, and have the team actually get worse. On the flip side, one AFC team that has surpassed all preseason expectations is the Miami Dolphins. J-Mac and Rob G seem pretty split on Tua Tagovailoa and the fellas at this point in the season; Is Miami a legitimate Super Bowl contender or just the product of a soft schedule? Either way, the next few weeks should give us the answer. Moving over to the NFC, Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is taking a ton of heat this morning for his controversial 4th down call in the Cowboys' overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers. But rather than tearing down Dallas, shouldn't we be giving Green Bay kudos for having the patience and discipline to stick to a ground game that ultimately broke the Dallas defense? Straight Fire w/ Jason McIntyre - Panthers Pound the Falcons, NFL Week 10 Best Bets + Professional sports bettor Brandon Lang
58:34On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a quick thought on the Carolina Panthers' suffocating victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football. It wasn't always pretty - and all signs point towards the Tampa Bay Buccaneers being the team that ultimately wins the NFC South - but it was still a nice win for Carolina. Later, professional sports bettor and Bleav Podcast Network host Brandon Lang swings by to discuss how he made a big score earlier this week betting on Bellarmine to upset Louisville in college basketball, how much of the movie ‘Two For the Money’ starring Matthew McConaughey and Al Pacino (which is based on his life) is actually true, why he’s high on the Cleveland Browns and Green Bay Packers as underdogs against the spread this Sunday, why he likes the Houston Texans with the points against the New York Giants, why he absolutely refuses to bet on Arizona Cardinals vs the Los Angeles Rams, why he almost always stays away from the international NFL games, and much more! World Cup Roster Breakdown, Thursday Night Football Best Bets + FOX Sports College Football reporter Bruce Feldman
32:04On today’s episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on the official 2022 World Cup roster. There were a handful of surprises as Alexi Lalas and Stu Holden suggested there might be. Will this young squad be able to gel in time to make some noise in Qatar? We’ll find out soon enough. Plus, J-Mac gives us his best bet for the Thursday Night Football game between the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons. Later, FOX Sports and The Athletic college football reporter Bruce Feldman swings by to discuss why the oddsmakers have the #4 TCU Horned Frogs as underdogs against the Texas Longhorns this Saturday, what makes the 2023 NFL Draft quarterback class so interesting, the biggest reason behind Jim Harbaugh and Michigan’s turnaround since the tumultuous 2020 season, preview what could be a de facto College Football Playoff game later this season between Michigan and Ohio State, the narrative that Alabama superstars Bryce Young and Will Anderson should sit out the rest of the season, and much more!
