Drake Maye Struggles in Patriots 1st Win vs Steelers

The New England Patriots picked up their first win of the 2026 season Sunday afternoon, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-3 at Gillette Stadium. After a disappointing Week 1 loss, New England responded with a dominant defensive performance that kept Pittsburgh’s offense in check throughout the afternoon. The Patriots got on the board first when TreVeyon Henderson broke loose for a 39-yard touchdown run in his season debut, giving New England an early 7-0 lead. Andy Borregales added two field goals, while Pittsburgh managed only one score — a 56-yard Chris Boswell field goal just before halftime. Quarterback Drake Maye had an up-and-down afternoon, completing 14 of 22 passes for 208 yards and throwing one interception. However, he delivered some key explosive plays, including a 63-yard completion to Romeo Doubs that helped set up another Patriots field goal. The defense ultimately sealed the victory. Christian Barmore forced a fumble on Aaron Rodgers with a strip-sack early in the fourth quarter, and Elijah Ponder recovered it and returned it 19 yards for a touchdown. New England added another turnover late when rookie linebacker Gabe Jacas intercepted Rodgers to end a Steelers scoring threat.
