China raises typhoon alert to highest level

China has activated an emergency response for flooding in Guangxi caused by Typhoon Narra. A central work team has been dispatched to the region to assess damage, assist with the relocation of affected people and provide support.

A fast-growing fire has led to over 42,000 evacuations as it is spreading toward neighborhoods and consumed some homes in Reno, in the US state of Nevada. Authorities say an additional 45,000 people are in the evacuation warning zone.

A landslide at a rubbish dump on the outskirts of the Guinean capital has killed 30 people and injured 22 others. The Guinean government said search and rescue operations are continuing on the ground in Conakry.
