Welcome to the bed hoppers podcast. In this episode we talk about our last week or two and how it feels like we’re turning a corner. Sam is navigating the lifestyle after a 16-year vanilla relationship, exploring experiences while seeking companionship. He talks about some of the challenges, his advice for newcomers and how he'd bring up the lifestyle conversation with a new partner. Jess, describing herself as a "9-year-old who has been to a lot of therapy", recounts entering the scene through polyamory after university and later discovering swinging post-lockdown. She identifies as solo poly, preferring to engage in swinging independently, shaped by her own desires and boundaries. Jess emphasises the importance of "doing the work" to unlearn monogamous norms, reframing jealousy, and establishing clear boundaries, particularly not dating monogamous individuals or poly people with negative views on swinging. She covers body image issues and overcoming a hierarchy in the swinging community that sometimes invalidates single participants.
