
9AM HOUR: AI Leaders Call For Slowdown, Chips Slide, OpenAI's Altman Rules Out 2026 IPO 9/14/26
Carl Quintanilla, David Faber and Sara Eisen covered lots of AI news moving the markets: Chip stocks tumbled after AI industry leaders called for an AI slowdown. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei set the tone with his essay on the topic. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk were among those who agreed with what Amodei wrote. Altman told Fortune he is ruling out an OpenAI IPO for 2026. The anchors also discussed crude oil, gasoline and diesel prices surging ahead of this week's Fed meeting and decision on interest rates.
