Pre-Rational Morality and Linguistic Invariance

Author named Ridley Park chronicles his experience using artificial intelligence chatbots to resurrect and restructure an unfinished novel he originally abandoned in 2023. By collaborating with these language models, he successfully generated comprehensive worldbuilding ledgers, detailed timelines, and philosophical inquiry frameworks from his scattered notes and partial drafts. The technology helped him meticulously map out complex narrative misdirections, track character arcs, and enforce consistent internal logic for his speculative fiction project set in Philadelphia. Furthermore, the author utilised these digital tools to maintain an authentic American linguistic register while shifting the story's perspective to a close third-person narrative. Ultimately, the exercise proved that generative models are exceptionally valuable as analytical partners for organising creative concepts rather than simply drafting prose.👉 https://brywillis634737.substack.com/p/everlasting-worldbuilder

Language philosopher Bry Willis examines the arguments presented by Hamedeh Rastaei regarding the relationship between the self and the other. While Willis agrees that identity requires differentiation, he challenges the assumption that mutual dependency inherently dictates a specific moral framework or peaceful coexistence. He argues that Rastaei makes an unjustified leap from ontology to ethics by assuming that gat distinction does not automatically generate hostility, nor does acknowledging another person necessitate approving of their specific behaviours or viewpoints. Ultimately, the author maintains that relational dependency is simply an existential condition rather than a prescribed moral instruction that resolves human conflict.👉 https://brywillis634737.substack.com/p/the-self-requires-the-other-but-not

Language philosopher Bry Willis explores the philosophical problem of reality by arguing that standard debates oversimplify a complex issue into a binary choice between realism and idealism. The author proposes breaking down the question of existence into four distinct dimensions: ontic commitment, constitutive dependence, epistemic access, and representational adequacy. Different thinker perspectives are examined, including Enfield's view of perception as a lossy channel, Lawson's concept of closure, and Latour's flat ontology where all actants hold equal standing. Building on these concepts, the author introduces a framework called mediated non-exhaustive realism, which contends that an objective reality exists independently while rejecting the notion that traditional objects are permanent features of the universe. Instead, everyday items like tables or subatomic particles are treated as scale-dependent heuristics that emerge dynamically through specific interactions. Ultimately, the writing addresses the inherent limitations of human language, noting that any attempt to describe what lies beyond our encounters inevitably relies on nouns that inadvertently turn the unnamable into fixed substances.👉 https://brywillis634737.substack.com/p/what-is-real-c9f

Language philosopher Bry Willis shares a philosophical working note that seeks to de-reify the concept of morality by explaining moral phenomena through affective responses rather than objective moral entities. It argues that moral reactions originate in an ineffable emotional register and are subsequently rationalised through language, functioning without any independent rational source. Furthermore, the source examines the grammatical structure of moral claims, comparing the inflation of moral terms like "wrong" to the way factual truth is treated as a metaphysical monolith. By categorising ideal terms as archetypes and nominalistic constructs, the author distinguishes between closed idealisations and open, contestable concepts. Finally, the text critiques existing psychological frameworks, such as Haidt's moral foundations theory, while defending its own thesis against common objections like the genetic fallacy and realism.👉 https://brywillis634737.substack.com/p/pre-rational-morality-truth-and-archetypes

Language philosopher Bry Willis explores the philosophical boundary where scientific prediction meets the limits of ultimate explanation. It examines whether a mathematical model successfully forecasts an event constitutes a genuine understanding of reality or merely a descriptive tool. By contrasting different viewpoints, the author questions if transitioning from physics to metaphysics genuinely resolves fundamental mysteries or simply recasts them in a different vocabulary. Furthermore, the discussion challenges the assumption that every conceptual question regarding the universe automatically demands a satisfying ontological answer. Ultimately, the source suggests that human curiosity may formulate inquiries that reality is fundamentally unequipped to answer.👉 https://brywillis634737.substack.com/p/when-physics-runs-out-of-answers

Language philosopher Bry Willis, who writes fiction as Ridley Park, outlines the socio-political and economic shifts between 2010 and 2023 that heavily influenced his speculative literary novel, Needle's Edge. He argues that well-intentioned but flawed federal legislation, such as Purdue's abuse-deterrent OxyContin and restrictive CDC guidelines, inadvertently pushed addicts from prescription pills toward cheaper heroin and potent synthetics. Furthermore, regulatory actions like the closure of Backpage in 2018 stripped sex workers of digital safety, forcing vulnerable cohorts onto dangerous streets amidst escalating fentanyl and xylazine epidemics. The author details how subsequent disruptions, including COVID-19 isolation and online platform crackdowns, profoundly devastated marginalised communities involved in the drug and sex trades. Ultimately, this timeline serves as the critical documentary foundation and environmental backdrop for his upcoming manuscript.👉 https://brywillis634737.substack.com/p/the-cascade-behind-needles-edge
