3D Printed Watches: How Apiar's Matt Oosthuizen is Reshaping Independent Watchmaking

Today's guest, Matt Oosthuizen, is one of the co-founders of Apiar, a UK-based watch brand that's the result of a passion not just for watches, but for experimenting with new technologies. Apiar, which debuted in 2023, is literally built different. Rather than following the traditional path, Apiar leans into additive manufacturing. With cases and dials printed using 3D technology, Apiar makes designs that couldn't be achieved through traditional methods, and as Oosthuizen notes, it's a constantly evolving process as Apiar grows and the technology itself develops. Beyond the innovation, Apier strives to use UK-based suppliers, resulting in watches quite unlike anything else out there.
