Under Surveillance

The Dalraida neighborhood of Montgomery Alabama is one of the most sought after communities in the city. Jason Clarke and his mother, Verna, have been staples of Dalraida for many years and have deep roots in the area. Jason moves back after many years away to care for his now ailing mother, much to the delight of the many friendly neighbors he’s known for so long. But he returns a changed, and angry, man. The noise from  new neighbor’s loud puppies soon turns him against her and the whole neighborhood, terrorizing them with threats, animal attacks, and shocking invasions of their privacy. Brooks Jennings and his family reside in West Goshen Township, a suburb of Philadelphia named one of America’s top ten places to live. Brooks is the unofficial mayor of his street, always throwing parties and looking out for everyone’s interests. When his aging next door neighbor’s daughter, Shannon, and her husband Clayton Carter move in with him, Brooks extends his traditional hospitality. But Clayton’s idea of what makes a good neighbor is at odds with others in the neighborhood and quickly leads to conflict with Brooks. Jeri Edwards and partner David Bailey have long enjoyed life in their rented Cedar Hill, Texas home. Things get even better when David’s daughter buys the house right beside them as an investment property. It’s not long before David and Jeri are invited to live in the home and renovate it. It’s a good move for the couple and puts them that much closer to good friends and neighbors Danny and Teresa Silver. But when renovations begin on the place, the recently retired Danny becameslivid about the noise and messthe work generates. A nasty conflict erupts between the former friends, that grows to include Jeri’s son Nick. But when Tyra’s son Jerel gets a new car... the tight street parking becomes even tighter. Everyone takes the situation in stride, except for Tyra’s next-door neighbor, Richard Green. He’s suddenly full of complaints of Tyra and Jerel encroaching on his space. Most of his claims are either petty or unfounded, yet he becomes increasingly righteous and angry. The upscale Pleasant Run Estates in luscious Lancaster Texas is home to wealthy young retirees Belinda and Anthony Tucker.  The ambitious Belinda has plans to both run for mayor and reestablish a disbanded Home Owner’s Association, bringing with it big plans to beautify the neighborhood. But the fees her HOA demand spark bad blood in the community, especially with neighbors Sherita and Ken Haggerty who, upon discovering Anthony Tucker was somehow made president of the HOA, come to believe the whole enterprise is a fraud. Deep in the Australian outback, the rugged hamlet of Tungkillo is home to father and new grandfather, Kevin Skeyhill. His idyllic rural existence gets even better when Darren Lorke moves in next door. Not only is Kevin happy to make a new friend, he’s hoping his neighbor will share the expense of rebuilding the badly worn fence shared between them. But Darren accuses Kevin of extortion and the feud is on, soon exacerbated when torrential flooding damages Darren’s property; damage he blames on Kevin for failing to properly maintain his drainage system. Loomis, California is a sleepy little town near Sacramento, and home to long time couple Gary Bortis and Maryanne Stein. They are friends with everyone on serene Boone Lane so it’s no surprise they welcome newcomer Lawrence “Cutter” Ficarra with open arms. Peace and friendship are soon destroyed when Lawrence reveals himself to be a developer and begins building a number of townhouses in the land behind Boone Lane. To make matters worse, he begins using access road beside Gary and Maryanne’s home to reach the land. Lawrence uses intimidation to dismiss all neighborhood concerns, and threatens anyone who stands in his way, setting the stage for a violent confrontation that will leave one of the combatants bleeding out in the street. Jed Elshant falls in love with rural Tennessee after moving onto a picturesque street. He’s quick to make friends with his new neighbors- longtime residents Robin and Charlie Hill on one side, and Cody and Amanda Massengill on the other. Yet as he settles in, Jed is put off by the wrecked cars and general unsightliness of his neighbor’s property. After acquiring a land survey, Jed sets out to clean mess he believes falls within his property lines. Meanwhile,  the Hills and Massengills vehemently deny the claims of his survey. The ensuing conflict is vicious and unrelenting, with all three parties using extensive cell phone recordings to document the dispute. When, a simple misunderstanding unfolds, things between these two young hotheads turn ugly –and violent -- fast. Neither family is able to prevent their sons’ intractable conflict from escalating to the point of no return, and their worst fears are realized when things come to a brutal, blood soaked end.
