One of the final collaborations between John Wayne and John Ford, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) pits attorney Ransom Stoddard (James Stewart) against a cruel and violent gangster Liberty Valance (Lee Marvin). Stoddard must decide if he wants to stick to his principles and defeat Valance through legal means, or use frontier justice.
