Born in Hong Kong, Amanda's upbringing was anything but conventional, navigating through a convent boarding school and a Jesuit boys’ school before embarking on a path fueled by her parents' adventurous spirits. Her father, a former Gurkha Intelligence officer and Oxford-educated spy, and her mother, who ran a hospital in the Borneo jungle, instilled in her a thirst for exploration and daring endeavors.

With a degree in drama, Amanda kicked off her television career in a memorable role as a member of the Communist Resistance in 'Allo 'Allo, showcasing her talent for drama and comedy alike.

Her literary prowess shines through in her latest nonfiction work, "From Aconite to the Zodiac Killer: The Dictionary of Crime," garnering rave reviews upon its release in July 2020 by Robinson/Little Brown, later followed by a Ulysses Press publication in the US in May 2021.
