Spiritual growth doesn't happen merely by accumulating Biblical or spiritual knowledge; it happens as we trust God enough to put His truth into practice. The measure of a healthy disciple is not how much they hear but how faithfully they obey.

Paul lived a life of joy—even in prison. How? Dr. Charlie Dates shares that joy is consequential, not circumstantial. Joy is the consequence of Christ being proclaimed, and when we share the Good news and have a relationship with Jesus, joy should follow. There is power in the name of God. The world will try to label us by our failures, wounds, or our past, but God sees us differently. He replaces the false names with new names—true names that speak of who we are in Him. Worthy. God’s ultimate plan is not to scrap creation, but to redeem it. Richard Rohr has said, “Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.” So when life feels unfinished or disappointing, we can remember: this is not the end of the story.

God will not allow evil to have the final word. This is why Christians are people of Hope. It is not a fantasy or a work of science fiction; it is the reality of Jesus' life and God’s plan. He will return, and for those who have been oppressed, overlooked, or wounded, this is a promise of vindication. For those who wonder if righteousness is worth it, Revelation answers with a resounding yes. Even when it feels like we are losing battles here and now, the final outcome is not in question. When Jesus returns, nothing will be able to stand against Him. The story is not over. Jesus is coming back. And when He does, He will make all things right.

We chase what we believe will finally make us feel whole—success, comfort, recognition, security—only to find that the satisfaction fades faster than we expected. Revelation gives this longing a name: Babylon. Babylon represents a world built on wealth, pleasure, and status. None of these things are evil on their own. But when they become more than they were intended to be, they begin to pull us away from God. Deep down, we long for something eternal—for a Person, not a possession. Remember that you were created for Jesus, and nothing short of Him will ever truly satisfy.

There are moments when following Jesus doesn’t feel inspiring. It feels costly. Sometimes that cost comes through obvious opposition, but oftentimes it comes through something more subtle: pressure. Revelation reminds us that we belong to a different kind of kingdom. The way up is down, and the way to first is to be last. Our security is not found in power or control, but in trusting the One who is already on the throne. Sometimes the greatest act of faith is not bold or dramatic. It is simply refusing to give your allegiance to anything other than Jesus.

There is a spiritual war being waged for our hearts and allegiance. And while Satan is determined to destroy God’s work, Revelation 12 gives us incredible hope: the decisive victory has already been won. Satan is defeated. He still fights—but he fights as one who has already lost. Every day, you have a choice: step into the fight equipped by God, or drift unaware and be shaped by it. To be a disciple of Jesus is to wake up to this very real spiritual battle. We are not just living an ordinary life—we are standing in the middle of a spiritual battlefield. But we are not alone, and we are not defenseless. Stand firm, don’t cower, because the battle is real, but so is the victory.
