The trial of Lindsay Clancy, accused of murdering her three children, has collapsed as the jury failed to reach a verdict. Clancy’s defence did not deny that she killed her children, but pleaded not guilty, with her lawyers arguing she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and should not be held criminally responsible. The case has transfixed America and spurred public debate on maternal mental health.
