Both Razumikhin and Raskolnikov treat the man coldly. As Luzhin gets up to leave, Zosimov and Razumikhin continue to talk about the murder of the pawnbroker. Razumikhin argues that the man must have been an amateur since only a few objects went missing, and no money was taken. Luzhin breaks in with another attempt to show off, but is cut short by Razumikhin. Luzhin storms off after being called out by Raskolnikov for his proposal to his sister. Raskolnikov then throws the others out of the room.
