Hey Slaycaters, congratulations!  You’ve just won the Jamaican lottery! All you need to do to receive your winnings is pay a small fee (to cover customs charges and shipping costs). Never mind that you never entered the Jamaican lottery — you won!   Here is the untraceable way for you to send the fee…  Now obviously you’re way too smart to ever fall for a scam like this — but believe it or not, hundreds of people do…including  Heidi Muth, a teacher from California.   Only, when she suspected she’d been scammed she hopped a plane to Montego Bay, Jamaica to confront the people she’d been talking to.  Bad idea.  As always, thanks for Slaycating with us, stay safe out there…and beware of obvious scams! Hey Slaycaters, we’re back with another shocking, mysterious death in Mexico — this time, beloved actress Carol Wayne, most known for playing the ‘Matinee Lady’ in sketches with Johnny Carson. Hey Slaycation Nation, we’re back with one of the most baffling recent cases in the Las Vegas area… which is saying a lot!  Without giving too much away — let’s just say that 30-year-old, Utah man, Steven Koecher drove his car into one of the most desirable retirement communities in Nevada, parked in a cup-de-sac and simply walked away.   From there, things get truly strange. OK Slaycaters, strap in for another case of paradise lost.  In May of 2000, New York-based travel writers Claudia Kirschhoch and Tania Grossinger found themselves stranded in Negril, Jamaica when their business trip to Havana Cuba was suddenly canceled. However, 29-year old Claudia had just landed her dream job writing for Frommer’s Travel Guides and decided to make the most of her situation.   While Tania booked a flight home — Claudia stayed and played, including going on a date with a bartender at the resort she was staying in. What happens next is something out of a movie…and definitely not a RomCom. Hey Slaycaters, here we go again…  Another case that will have you scratching your heads and saying, “WTF???” On July 8th, 2014, Lars Mittank entered the airport in Varna, Bulgaria.   It had already been an interesting vacation on the coast of the Black Sea that included a fight with locals in which Lars had sustained injuries preventing him from flying home with his pals.   Now medically cleared to fly, Lars arrived at the Varna Airport — only to be seen suddenly running out of the airport doctor’s office headed straight for…our show. Hey Slaycaters, today’s episode takes place in the ocean, literally. Yes. In. The. Ocean. It’s the horrific tale of Tom Lonergan and Eileen Cassidy, a young couple of avid scuba divers excited to explore the Coral Sea off Australia’s Northeast Coast.   What happens to them is the stuff of a horror movie, literally. The movie Open Water is based on this case (but it could have been called ‘Dude, Where’s My Boat?’) It’s also an extreme cautionary tale of what happens when people don’t speak up when they notice things out of the ordinary — or when a tourism business fails to do the basic job of keeping its guests safe.
