The subject matter that we are going to talk about today has to do with running across a pessimistic individual that may seem like they're on your side on the surface, however may have ulterior motives. The dream killer has some of the same characteristics as the downer. These individuals are preoccupied with controlling other people in relationships. Their focus is not to measure up to someone else's standards, but to bring someone else down to their own. Initially, these individuals may come across as modest and self-deprecating. They have a strategy of manipulation that they have worked on throughout the years involving a bit of victimhood, guilt, and pessimism. The success that they would like to achieve is to actually participate in someone else's failure. No matter how beautiful or how wealthy the other party is, if they are the target then holding this person back because they like them it's far more important then allowing them to go on with their lives.It may seem irrational or counter-intuitive to pursue a relationship this way.
