Episode 383: CBGB Conspiracy.

Tom and Neil have a nice chat with Gabriel Rotello, author of the fictional crime novel The CBGB Conspiracy. Rotello moved to NYC in 1974, and was there for the birth of punk at the famed Bowery dive. His vivid memories and descriptions make you feel like you were there rubbing elbows with the misfits, punks and junkies that inhabited rock bottom New York in 1977. With songs from Television, The Shirts, Jayne County, Sick Fucks, Patti Smith and Richard Hell and the Voidoids. 

This stitched together episode starts with the PTID guys talking about a few things bothering them. Dropkick Murphys, Punk in the Park, politics in punk and a few other topics are discussed. There's also some gig talk, including the mighty Negative Approach! Finally their old pal Matt Swisher joins them to talk about all the cool stuff going down in Logansport, including a date reveal for the annual PTID show. The PTID guys catch up with Flatfoot 56 guitarist/vocalist Tobin Bawinkel. They talk about the early days of the band, and what a long strange trip it's been. Tom's back from the Sunshine State has tales to tell. First the PTID guys talk about the obscene wealth and the We Are The Punx festival in West Palm Beach. Then they get into Tom's unusual lodgings and the various eccentricities of Key West. The Canadian legends are reissuing their 1995 album The Black Spot, and the PTID guys were able to catch up with Joe Keithley (Joey Shithead!) for a fun, wide ranging conversation. The PTID guys were thrilled to catch up with former Hüsker Dü and current UltraBomb bassist Greg Norton in the wilds of Minnesota. They talk about the good old days and his long break from the music business, as well as the formation and new lineup of UltraBomb. With songs from UltraBomb. 

The PTID guys have been having such good luck lately with blind interviews that they decided to add Horace Pinker to the mix. A good time was had by all discussing the band's history, their many brushes with greatness, their new record and big plans for next year. With songs old and new from Horace Pinker.
