Northeastern University’s Matthews Arena, formerly known as Boston Arena, closed its doors after 115 years. The historic athletic hall was once home to the Boston Bruins and Boston Celtics before the construction of the old Boston Garden. The Northeast Intercounty Scholastic Girls Hockey League (NISHL) is a newly established non-profit women's high school hockey league in New England that focuses on skill development, sportsmanship, and inclusiveness. The league was largely created to provide a space and league for all high school girls to play hockey, especially for those girls whose own high school might not provide a women's varsity or even junior varsity team.
