Oh wowza, we need to have a heart to heart.
Writing negative thoughts just to "get them out" does NOT validate an emotion. Thoughts are not feelings and feelings are not thoughts.
THIS is the writing exercise you want to do to process through negative thoughts without getting stuck in them, so you can create empowering thoughts that serve you through ANY emotion and circumstance.
