The Mystery of the Gospel

God promised Abraham that He would choose his descendants and make them His own people; the Chosen People. We read in the Scriptures the promises fulfillment in Israel being saved out of Egypt and becoming the people of God via the covenant of Moses. Jesus the Jew from Nazareth proclaims that Salvation is of the Jews. He tells his disciples to bypass the Gentiles and bring the gospel to the lost sheep of Israel for he was sent only to them. So, what about the Gentiles? The Apostle Paul who resolves confusion about the Gentiles. It is a mystery that God kept hidden from everyone until He revealed it to Paul, His Apostle to the Gentiles. Join us as we continue to unpack this mystery surrounding the Gentiles.

To the physical descendants of Jacob, Moses said, “Remember that you are a special people who belong to the Lord your God. He has chosen you for himself out of all the other people who live on the earth. He loves you as his special people” (Deut 7:6). But why did He choose them? Are they the only ones He has chosen? What would you do if you found out He is choosing others and adding them to those he has already chosen? Would you want to be chosen too? We could even call it the Mystery of the Gentiles. Once we enter the Kingdom, we have the resources to re-make ourselves and become like our Father in heaven. This work of transformation is a collaboration between us and the Holy Spirit. Hanukkah has been overlooked by the traditional Church for nearly 2000 years! This is due to the early gentile Church separating herself from Israel and her Scriptures and claiming that she has replaced her as the people of God. She then created new traditions and holy days to ensure that nobody would confuse her with being part of Israel. This resulted in Gentile Christians being deeply confused about their identity and mission in this world. Hanukkah is the pathway back to the roots of our faith and the people we are grafted into.
