Matt Waldman's RSP Scout Talk provides a progress report on the 2023 and 2024 rookie quarterback classes. How I evaluate quarterbacks once they begin their NFL careers was a topic I broached this time last year. With the past two years of quarterbacks as hot points of media discussion, I'm using the article/thread as a framework for analyzing what's most important for a young quarterback to show on the field. Production and wins are the bottom line. While true, the myopic focus on the bottom line ahead of embracing a legitimate growth process is one of the greatest problems with young quarterback management in the NFL. Growth is only given lip service. Organizations have insufficient development processes, they are impatient with results, and they contribute to public pressure.  Sink or swim. They don't bench intermittently. A benching in today's league is too often considered a death knell for that player's future as a long-term starter. Drew Brees would have never developed if his early career unfolded in today's environment. With that said, I share my thoughts on Bryce Young, Will Levis, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix, and even Skylar Thompson as I take you through the factors I use with evaluating NFL QBs early in their careers. I will note that Tyson Bagent and Aidan O'Connell are inadvertently getting that intermittent playing/bench time as reserves. Bagent's situation may prove the most favorable. If you play fantasy football, you may want to hang onto Bagent in leagues with deep rosters of 35-50 spots. And of course, if you want to know about the rookies from this draft class, you will find the most in-depth analysis of offensive skill players available (QB, RB, WR, and TE), with the 2023 Rookie Scouting Portfolio for $21.95.  Matt’s new RSP Dynasty Rankings and Two-Year Projections Package is available for $24.95 If you’re a fantasy owner and interested in purchasing past publications for $9.95 each, the 2012-2022 RSPs also have a Post-Draft Add-on that’s included at no additional charge.   If you’re a fantasy owner and interested in purchasing past publications for $9.95 each, the 2012-2022 RSPs also have a Post-Draft Add-on that’s included at no additional charge.   Best yet, proceeds from sales are set aside for a year-end donation to Darkness to Light to combat the sexual abuse of children.
