Hi friends, for today, I am releasing one of my Patreon episodes from last year while I finish up my first Beyond the Mask episode since March! Enjoy!Antone Costa, who was later known as the Cape Cod Casanova, was a carpenter who gained notoriety after he murdered at least four women in Truro, Massachusetts in 1969 although he is suspected of at least eight murders, including his girlfriend. He mutilated and dismembered the bodies, removed the hearts, and was only caught when the remains of two of his victims were discovered in a forest clearing where Costa grew marijuana. He was tried and convicted of two murders and sentenced to life in prison on May 29th, 1970 but would serve less than four years, committing suicide in his cell on May 12th, 1974. Stephen Stanko’s life was seemingly derailed after he failed to earn an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy after high school. This failure triggered a change in his behavior where he soon resorted to petty crimes which eventually escalated to rape and murder. The reason for his sudden leap to kill remains somewhat of a mystery - Stanko refused to testify and his defense team tried to reason that Stanko’s brain was “defective,” hoping to convince the jury to rule in favor of an insanity plea. On April 21st, 2020, John and Katie Palmer went out for an early morning walk around 7:30am. Within 15 minutes, their lives would be forever changed. They were hit by a F250 driven by Cory Todd Foster, which knocked them out of their shoes and sent them flying through the air. Katie’s injuries were fatal as she passed away in the early hours of April 22nd. John was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit with severe injuries. Cory Foster was uninjured and, to this day, he has not been held accountable for his actions. Fritz Haarmann, the Butcher of Hanover, murdered at least 27 young boys and teenagers between 1918 and 1924 in the city of Hanover but the actual number of victims is most likely higher. He would lure runaways and sex workers back to his apartment with offers of a hot meal and somewhere comfortable to sleep but once the door closed, Haarmann turned deadly. He would attack them, strangling and beating them before biting each boy on the neck through the windpipe in what Haarmann later sickeningly referred to as a “love bite.” For years, he was able to avoid suspicion because he was considered the Hanover police department’s favorite and most reliable informant.
